Whatever he or she wants. That's the beauty of it. We don't run down the list of the liberal/conservative playbook and fall in line like a limp dick.

Reverse post count boom to deflect the fact you are a miserable human being who has wasted 12 years of his life arguing with strangers on the internet.
Cool

How so? Using your logic everyone is a moderate.

There actually are conservative principles that are fairly consistent.

The parties have defined what their positions are on everything and if you don't follow the mantra 100% you're chastised for being the enemy. You could agree with everything else, but fall out of line once and you're out. This is how we look at each other and how we look at our politicians. Thus our very polarized country, and I don't see it getting better any time soon.

They don't moderate their principles, their principles lead them to moderated solutions.
Solution to what? "Nudging" their principles into a watered down version? Why does it seem that it's always the conservatives that need to "moderate" their values, when the liberals just shove harder left?

What a pile of shjt. You keep telling yourself that.
If you get far enough away from the middle on either side, both sides think being a moderate is useless.
And as is well know, on this board, if your a moderate in the rest of the world, you are McCarthy bait on here.

I disagree. The reason being a "moderate" is frowned on, is because, far too often, it is simply a con job to cover what he/she actually stand for...a finger in the wind to gauge what will make their own road easier to travel..plausible deniability for any policy that goes bad. How, exactly, does one "moderate" their claimed principles?
They more than likely are moderate meaning they agree with the left on some issues and the right on some issues but people like yourself will take the instances they don't agree with you and all of the sudden they become an evil prog leftist cuck. They could be pro-gun, pro-life, and pro-immigration enforcement but as soon as they say that global warming is real they become a dirty liberal.

When moderates "compromise" with the left, which direction does the country steer?

Both sides have hardliners that make perfect the enemy of better. I've only pointed out conservatives in this thread because it's easier to find them here.

Also, this board over the years had some great lib posters that would go toe to toe and debate.
In 2017 all we are left with is ridiculous people like you that wouldn't know a debate if it hit them over the head with a chair.
All you fricksticks do is post one sentence and then go hide under a blanket.

Its a mask for being an unprincipled opportunist.
You just hate anybody who doesn't think like you. So instead of just hating dems, you basically hate everyone.
That just keeps things simple. It's easier for you that way.

when we figured out "moderate" meant to embarrassed to admit you were liberal.

You may be conflating the average citizen with the active politician. I was referring to politicians. I think you are also confused about people who support the concept of "dangerous" "man made" climate change with being a "dirty liberal. I don't think they are "dirty liberals" I think they are gullible people of any or all stripe.

That avoids my point.
In your opinion, which way has the country drifted in the last 30 years...left or right..conservative or liberal? Which side has "moderated" more?

Conserve is the root word of conservative and it does have an overlapping definition with moderation and liberalism is marked by extremism (an observable fact)
