California sells $30 + rice every year
This year with the drought it might be $45/cwt
Yeah for Calrose. The world market probably won't break $30.
Maybe locally.

Good the government needs to jump in make things worse like declare them contributing to climate change and ban them. Fricking up is what our government does best.

I got 200 pounds of wheat , just have to buy a miller.

So you’re saying we only have a 4 month supply of rice now? You can call me very skeptical of this.
Posted on 4/1/22 at 4:44 pm to TigerGyp
Yes, that is what is in reserves. When demand continues to exceed supply, you reduce the reserves. This came straight from the commissioner of agriculture’s presentation this morning.

- Ukraine accounted for 20% of wheat exports.
- Russia, china, Belarus, and Ukraine account for over 50% of potash fertilizer
Makes you wonder if there is WAY more to this story
Seems like thats what El Putine wants but the tards dont see that

Rice crop inputs are 30% higher this year. Source: my spouse.
Someone asked why do people still farm.
Simple: we all need to eat.

We’re very close to having saltwater intrusion issues … likely won’t be able to plant all of what was planned.

Saltwater is a concern for us too, Cameron Parish.

$30/cwt is $13/bushel
No shite it won’t get that high
But the Western Hemisphere market long grain market has the potential to get as high as 2008 which was almost $20/cwt

The basis of all fertilizer is ammonia. There was a black swan event when 50% went offline due Hurricane Ida. 40% is just CF Industries in Donaldsonville. Every other company was making bank. The market has yet to catch up

Dont worry. Billy Gaytes will be their farmland
Posted on 4/1/22 at 10:52 pm to tiger91
Yeah $25bbl won’t work with inputs like they are, we will need $28bbl atleast to cover expenses

America needs to cut seriously its consumption of wheat. Many suffer from gluten intolerance and celiac disease, and for those who don't, limiting intake of bread, pasta, wheat-based cereals, pancakes, pastries and other wheaty offenders will certainly limit the epidemic of fatness which has become the scourge of the USA in the present millennium.

quote:Bought my garden fertilizer last Fall in anticipation of this price increase (or scarcity). My hunting club plants about 30 food plots each year. Either dues must go up or hope for the best in planting without fertilizer.
Ridiculous fertilizer prices will cause medium size farmers to plant less acres, also increasing prices due to less supply. Also expect older farmers to sell land.
