Mitch sucks. what a disappointment.

Living in New Orleans is great. My biggest gripe is the litter. That's a cultural problem, though.

Your friend/family can easily live in Metairie, the adjoining parish & commute down town, no big deal at all. Metairie is hard core GOP & as safe as any parish/county next to a big city. My biggest bitch if I lived in Orleans Parish is the complete & utter waste of tax dollars. The Quarter almost literally supports the city & the rest is why sanctuary cities were created.

Luckily you live in the suburbs. Local new orleans matters are of no concern to you. If they decide to put a new traffic light on Manhattan blvd then you get a voice.

Funny since I never lived in JP. I lived in Algiers when I chose my handle.

I'm also puzzled that you object to a post that called out/mocked racists.

It's pretty awesome, my neighborhood is super walkable with restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and parks all within walking distance. It doesn't smell and I haven't even been murdered.

Hard to tell the difference on here tbh. I took your post as "even a white mayor and council couldn't save that shite hole"

I've got the same set up in BR, but I can drive on my streets without busting an axle.

Where do you live in BR? We've considered it, but I'd basically only want to live in the Hundred Oaks area.

New Orleans streets suck, but the number of amenities is hard to beat if you're staying in Louisiana.

Ah, gotcha

My intent was "so much for white politicians being an improvement".

Old Goodwood, near where Government Street meets Jefferson Hwy. Mid City is great. I can be anywhere in the city I'd want to go (downtown, LSU, Citiplace, Town Centre, Hammond Aire, Cortana) in under 20 minutes, even in peak traffic. I have the best hot muffalleta I've had anywhere in walking distance along with dozens of other awesome restaurants. I'm a sub 5 minute drive away from the best boudin this side of the atchafalaya and the best tacos this side of the sabine.

The only thing I feel like I lack where I'm at is a good bar. The divey blues bar is a short drive and the hipster craft beer and cocktail bar is another mile past that. I have to go downtown or near LSU (an entire 10-15 minutes) for a really good live music venue for original bands. Superior just has good cover bands, and Dyson House really specializes in the folk singer types.

Hey very fine city. Some of the finest food and music in the world. Although crime has been terrible during the last year, New Orleans has been nothing short of a renaissance since Katrina.
