We’ve seen a Biden led military action during our withdrawal from Afghanistan

I think Putin takes as much of Ukraine as he wants. He has much more staying power than Nato and us.

Nato has partner and member countries. In those countries bordering Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and I'll throw in a non-border country Romania, are members of Nato. Ukraine and Belarus and Moldova are Nato partner countries which probably doesn't mean jack-squat now. Belarus can likely now be considered belligerent relative to Poland and other non-russian "free" countries. Russia can likely use in Belarus as a base if they wanted to. So Ukraine is there for the taking.
The next interesting turn will be when Russia decides they want the lesser Nato countries like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Nobody much cares about them. If they go for Poland they will have a fight on their hands.

Nations don't make weapons to not use them.

Nuclear war is a real possibility.

Biden personally? He’d offer to take Putin behind the gym and kick his arse, throw in a “come on man” or two, then wander off for nap time.

We have given the Ukraine some important weapons to fight an insurgency.

Rifles, shoulder fired anti-tank and helicopter Missiles

They can drain Russia’s military for years.

Sure.

But this whole contrived operation can escalate if Russia doesn't want to indulge in the usual traditional warfare/weaponry model (doesn't Russia *also* possess hi-tech Laser / EMP / EMF weaponry? And might they use it?).

Germany, who just waved off "dangerous" nuclear power has made a deal with the devil in Russia. Germany could be the first real Nato country to leave the alliance to insure natural gas flow to fuel the plants that make Mercedes, BMW, Audi and the list goes on. Some Germans may have fond memories of growing up in East Germany.

By the time he finishes putting all the restrictions on, we will probably call the Russians and let them know we are attacking. Seriously, he won’t do anything. We will ship military hardware to the Ukrainians for defense, but it will end up in the hands of the Russians. Maybe we should just ask them what they want or need so we can get their order correct.

He could give Stacey Abrams a rifle and send her to confront the Russians.

There’s a huge gap in that plan.

The whole Germany thing is worrying but unsurprising. Germany only possesses soft power now, on top of their balls being in a Russian vise grip.

I was told that whenever we wargamed small fights with the Soviets, they always escalated into nuclear war.

You never want to put yourself in a position where that could happen.

Not even close. Russia wouldn't nuke Ukraine and make the land they take unlivable.

It's certainly not between her thighs. There enough friction there when she walks to start a forest fire.

Well politics does not remain static. Some of these free countries can very well go in an election cycle or two in an opposite direction from the post Cold War world. A country can flip because the populace decides it time to flip. There is nothing any country like the US can do about it. I don't believe Belarus was always belligerent PCW.

Not just that. They’d instantly become a pariah state worse than even the DPRK.

Germany only has 60,000 or so in their army, so the Russians would overrun them quickly. I don’t see the Europeans having enough troops to do much. I don’t see the Europeans interested in military action to maintain an independent Ukraine.
