For people to WAKE THE HELL UP. They are literally slapping us in the face with the fact that we are AT WAR. There is a war going on behind the scenes. Please snap out of your pre-programmed robotic states of mind.

It's a euphemism. There are large chunks of this country where absolutely nothing has happened. It's kind of hard for people to get their heads around something that doesn't effect them.
