Trump literally lied TODAY.

He released a video (looking old as frick by the way) going on a bizarre rant and called Kim Reynolds "the most unpopular Governor in America".

Objectively false, aka a lie.

She won recently by 18 points. Trump won Iowa by 8. She consistently polls as one of the most popular politicians in Iowa.

Also I read the comments expecting a bunch of maga people agreeing. It was a total ratio, people were blasting him for it. I was actually surprised.

Who gives a shite what a citizen thinks in a free country. It’s hilarious this bothers you. You act like Trump is the only politician to do this.

All 30,573 false or misleading claims Trump made are listed and sourced here:

LINK

REMINDER: Dismissing the Washington Post as a source is not a valid refutation of this list. If anything in this list is NOT a lie, then respond by showing us how so.

Trump is a compulsive liar. He often tries to create his own reality by repeating lies and over and over, and getting his followers to repeat them.
Another tactic is Trump knows his supporters often know what he's saying is a lie, but choose to believe it anyway, because it feels better than admitting he's a liar.

ok, fine. i'll give this to you. but if that's the standard by which we are accusing people of being liars, then i'll ask again, why are we acting like Trump is some kind of anomaly. people use exaggeration and hyperbole all the time. do you think his intention was to deceive people into believing that she is literally the most unpopular governor in America?

the standards by which we seem to be holding Trump to regarding truth-telling do not match the standards that we hold literally every other politician and public figure.

That's moving the goalposts. I don't think Trump lies any more than most politicians. The question though was what lies has Trump told not if he tells more or less lies than most.

No, I'm stating the obvious -- what is plain to see.
You all know damn well Trump lost the 2020 election, but his followers continue to claim it was "stolen," because it feels better than admitting he lost.
And you're doing the exact same thing here -- rather than admit how obvious it is that Trump is a serial liar, you make excuses for him and shift blame.
Trump is a pig. He does not deserve another term in office. He tried to overthrow the government, and he sprayed diarrhea all over our most sacred institutions. Considering he's facing 91 federal felony charges, most of which were brought by prosecutors and judges he himself appointed, I don't know how a single person could continue to support him at this point.

The democrats like to mention it frequently and at 1 point MSN had a lie tracker...

Just imagine what their tracker would look like right now if they'd been keeping tabs on Biden's lies.

fricking thing would've broke by March of '21.

Trump most certainly bloviated and embellished things a lot, quite flamboyantly, but in general the guy had the right of things.

in the context of this thread, you are right. i'm speaking more generally though, because it seems to be this widespread commonly held belief that Trump is somehow a much bigger and more remarkable liar than any other politician, when i think he's pretty much on par with all of them.

but fair enough.

That he was going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it.

I'll forgive that one because it was so funny.

Trump had lots of lies, but they were all minor. Stuff like saying the head of the Boy Scouts called to tell him his (Trump's) speech was the best ever to the Scouts.

He also claimed to have been named Michigan's man of the year.
He wasn't even from Michigan, and this was supposedly before his Presidency.

Yeah, Trump is a big entertainer, and those guys lie some. But he never told any pernicious lies, or at least none that I heard of.

So its not the lie itself, its how many times he repeated that lie? What a metric.

I'm being serious.
Explain to me how you personally can support a candidate for President who is currently facing 91 federal felony charges, including theft of classified documents, election fraud, disenfranchisement of voters, and defrauding the United States.
Tell us.

The question should be how substantial and detrimental are the lies. Saying you won’t pull the troops out of Afghanistan until all our people and friendlies are out has a lot more negative consequences than exaggerating the number of folks at you inauguration. Saying Obamacare is going to save every family $2500/year on insurance hurts a lot more people than puffery about one’s poll numbers.

Its a lie. Its not a matter of "thought", its objectively untrue.

He could instead say "I respect Governor Reynolds but I disagree with her decision. I am right for the job right now because..."

You of course disapprove of scumbag behavior, though.
