I think you are drawing a very faint distinction without a purpose here.
In my defense, I never ever start one of these discussions. I don't even respond to the first one or two retarded insults from someone 'signaling his virtue' by calling honorable men from 150 years ago 'traitors' and 'dishonorable.'
I do rise to the continued blather when it presents itself.
I don't even respond to assertions that the Civil War was fought because of slavery, because of course that was the underlying cause for the secession that led to the war.
Slavery was evil - just as partial birth abortions are evil. But both evils were legal in the times they were prevalent.
And if the cause of the Union was to 'make war on the south to free the slaves' there would not have been 1000 volunteers from the North, and there would have been mass revolt if men were conscripted to fight such a war. Likewise, if the South had declared we are 'going to war to keep our slaves,' they would not have had any more volunteers than the North would have had to abolish it.
Men went to war on one side to preserve the Union, and on the other side to defend their state. It is no more complicated than that at the level of the fighting man. The machinations of the political leaders at the top are not part of my defense.
So the question of "honor" based on whether or not someone was willing to risk their lives to either 'free the slaves' or to 'maintain slavery' is totally moot. People in the 21st century are laughable with their attempts to denigrate the common man in the armies of either side.
And I repeat - nobody at the time referred the confederate soldiers as "traitors." Only the 'intellectual' modern SJWs use that terminology in their attempts to deflect from the utterly disastrous mess they have created with their 'create racial division' agenda in order to stay competitive in modern day elections.
So to all = don't start no shite, won't be no shite.
oh - and if all the SJWs might notice - the most patriotic and willing to fight for present day America, after all their ancestors slaves were taken from them, reside in the south. We in the south LOVE AMERICA.

You're a coward.

Correct.

Incorrect.

1. That's bullshite.
2. Who gives a frick, even if it were true.

Your ancestors killed U.S. soldiers. They're traitors, and it's disrespectful to this country to hold them up as anything else.

That was attempted humor - but I guess I'd need an appropriate emoji for you to understand it.
let's try this got it now??
and as a (hopefully) final gesture to you
Your opinions are as worthless as tits on a boar hog.

This is all humor. You do get that, right?
You haven't posted anything worth serious consideration.

Your opinions
Yet, here you are, having a fricking meltdown over them.

Is it traitorous to talk about seceding from the Union in modern times if done peacefully and legally?

No.
Talking about seceding is not what made them traitors.

I don't care about dead guys all that much.
I'm only mad because I love the design of the battle flag and it's aggravating that I can't wear it as a t-shirt or hat.
She looks good on the right hat.

Those who wave the confederate flag do so to show Southern Pride and to honor the memories of their ancestors who served under that flag during the Civil War. Those on the outside see them as being racists supporting slavery and treason while trying to intimidate black people.
While there is not a 100% correlation between racists and confederate flag wavers, its non zero. And probably closer to 100% than 0%.

They both disrespect America.

It's holding on to a Southern Pride whose values were discriminatory and racist.
They were virtually indistinguishable from "Northern Pride" - where do you think the Yankees were getting their food and the cotton to fuel their textile mills in 1860?
Talk about "virtue signaling" - the Civil War was 100% a family squabble. The side the "won" did so because it was stronger, not necessarily "right" both sides had shite tons of wrong to go around (slavery was a moral depravity, but not the only one.)

I understand how you have come to this post but
None of that matters, and does nothing to diminish the OP point. Similar arguments which basically ask "whats their point" or "are they justified" can be made against the kneelers. Whether theyre "right" or "wrong" doesn't change how theyre perceived.

So what you're saying is that If someone yells"fire in a crowed movie theater, then the they should bear some results of the outcome from the panic that ensues?

Who said you couldn't?
My BFF rocks the battle flag often.

Because I would be a hypocrite if I did.
I had to ask one of the baseball coaches at our baseball park to either remove his sticker, don't bring the truck there or stop coaching.

Just do it on your own time, same as you asked him to do.

Frick yeah. I'm going to order one when I get home.
Good talk.
