Yeah, we are saying very similar things but I still have to say I'm not fully seeing the confederate flag wavers side.

quote:

I'm just trying to separate out a group of people who have reason to say "my ancestry is wrapped up in Confederacy, but I don't think my ancestors were bad people."

Substitute Confederacy with the Third Reich and it's not excepted to wave the Nazi flag for those ancestors. That's where I disagree that it is truly for specific ancestors. It's holding on to a Southern Pride whose values were discriminatory and racist.

It's either this or they're ignorant. It's relatively unimportant which is correct.

If you had ancestors who fought and died for the confederacy seeing people disrespecting the incongraphy of the confederacy is just like pissing on their graves it is that simple.

Or maybe your ancestors should be remembered for a little bit more than a rebel flag flown to try and tear America apart. Should Germans be wrapping their tombstones in Nazi iconography just because of ancestry?

Why would I care about your traitorous ancestors and the feeling of "disrespect" that the truth gives you?

Part of the issue is that the confederate banner is the most aesthetically beautiful flag ever devised by man, and it triggers cucks like no other icon in human history.

I don't expect you to care. But there are many who do care a great deal. And those of us who carry a love for the South in our hearts through the generations will never be defeated because in us the South will always live.

It's about blood and soil. It's about a genuine culture and heritage. I wouldn't expect someone from Ohio to understand.

The Confederacy won't.

Then stop melting because people have decided they don't want monuments to traitors in their towns.

I don't care what you'd expect. I'm probably more Southern than you are.

This was never a discussion. I don't expect reasonable discourse from these types of posters.

This is definitely a fair thread with some solid points.

quote:

Kneelers are trying to make a statement about institutional racism in the justice system, but those who view the protest see it as as insult to soldiers and first responders. They see it as those players calling the entire country and those who died to protect it as racist.

This may be true but the problem is that quite a few bad actors on the kneelers side have completely distorted the message they were trying to convey and completely destroyed the good faith a lot of them had.

quote:

Those who wave the confederate flag do so to show Southern Pride and to honor the memories of their ancestors who served under that flag during the Civil War. Those on the outside see them as being racists supporting slavery and treason while trying to intimidate black people.

True as well.

I supported and still do support keeping the flag up there but I'm not losing any sleep on it as it has no effect on my life other than a few shake my head at SJWs losing their shite over the flag.
