The Green Movement was initially funded by the KGB. The FSB has maintained those ties and cultivated more. The Gulf states have joined in over the past few decades. Russia and the wants Canada and the USA to shift to renewable energy and limit O&G production so they will be dependent upon Russian and/or Middle Eastern O&G the way Europe is. That way is if war with Russia ever erupted Russia could turn off the natural gas supply to Europe and the USA. If the USA and Europe cannot power their countries and economies then they cannot sustain a long war with Russia. The Gulf states want their revenue stream to continue with as little of competition as possible.

It’s the issue that suits them best that can eat up a bunch of clock and something for them to try to point to and say “see, this is what we’ve been so busy doing that we don’t have time to look into the top 10 list of worst things happening to this country…..just ain’t enough hours in the day, playa.”
