Thomas Figures, a black assistant US attorney who worked for Sessions, testified that Sessions called him "boy" on multiple occasions and joked about the Ku Klux Klan, saying that he thought Klan members were "OK, until he learned that they smoked marijuana."
Jeff Sessions everyone.

And what exactly does draining the swamp mean when you nominate someone like Sessions, whose paycheck has come from public coffers for the last 20 years and the majority of his career?
How is he not, by definition, the career politician you guys rail about?

Its funny too, because sooo many conservative republicans tell me "social issues are meaningless! They aren't important!"
Well if they aren't important, change your stance on them and ALL of you fiscal and defense policy will go through.
all of this. it blows my mind.

Agreed. I don't see anything about Sessions that makes me think politics is changing.

I dont understand why peope are so hung up on pot policy. It is a niche issue.
Not really. It's a significant waste of money fighting it. Instead, just let the individual state and its citizens make the choice as to whether they would like to legalize it or not.
In doing so, the individual state could tax it at whatever they so choose (let's go towards the higher end and put it at 20%) and put all that new money derived from that into better schools, roads, public transportation, public libraries, parks, and so forth.
Even as a lover of good beer, I'll willfully concede that marijuana should be legalized before alcohol.

He's everything the people in my generation who want to vote Republican hate about Republicans. fricking awful appointment.
This. The vast majority of this country are socially liberal and fiscally conservative. If Trump wants the democrats to make gains at the midterm then he is off to a great start. Nominating Sessions is a good way to make dems great again (MDGA)

you mean supporting the decriminalization of MJ or supporting the irrational status quo?

If it is so un-important, why criminalize it? Why waste important resources to prosecute it?

So merely talking about an issue means that we think its "the issue of our lifetime?" Don't be dumb.

The Drug War isn't our most pressing issue. Take the bad with the good
Dude, the Drug war has cost this country billions upon billions of dollars, grew the state to unbelievably monstrous behemoth, completely destroyed the black community and is a national security issue right now with an unsecured border and powerful catels in latin america.
If Sessions is really the full blown drug warrior he's hyped up to be, he's a fricking catastrophic pick and a huge wasted opportunity for the GOP and Trump.

From April 2016:
Caucus member Jeff Sessions (R.-Al.) spoke of the need to foster ”knowledge that this drug is dangerous, you cannot play with it, it is not funny, it’s not something to laugh about… and to send that message with clarity that good people don’t smoke marijuana.”
And Trump supporters keep defending him or simply saying that weed isn't a big issue at all.
That is an absolutely retarded thing for a potential Attorney General to say.

It blows my mind that people don't think ending the WoD should be high priority. All the conservatives scream about is cutting gov't waste but then refuse to end a gov't backed money pit that Dems would be happy sign off on.

Some people just can't let go of their old fashioned beliefs and when they sense that its becoming more and more unpopular especially amongst people that they would normally be in agreement with all the time, they come up with excuses to justify it or say its not important enough to do anything about it.

I agree.
However, returning to a government that is government by the rule of law over the rule of political agendas is a much higher priority for me as it is the core issue to governmental philosophy.
