Both sides claim the other one does the gerrymandering. Both are right and both are wrong.

The left, in particular, can’t seem to grasp or admit that without gerrymandering, the House will be a LOT less diverse. Just look at the senate makeup compared to the House.

There is nothing way to draw these things without there being claims of rigging.

So, what if you just say Texas gets 40 seats. Top 40 vote getters in a statewide election get in.

Yeah, I know. Never happen and has its own set of problems.

My point, though, is that there is nothing way to remove the cries and effects of gerrymandering without some sort of purely “blind” drawing of the maps. Maybe a computer could do it, but even that will have a “garbage in, garbage out” issue.

Thats one of the stupider things I’ve read today.

Congress is designed to rep an area and speak for those citizens. Thats why you have districts. Your way is dumb and dumber.

I think at one time some states did do at large congressional districts even though there were multiple districts in a state.

Unless the law has changed the states still can if they wish.

Then you have the equivalent of 535 Senate Seats, and voter fraud more than the likes we're seeing now.

Pick someone at random from each district every 2 years. Randomly pick 50 for carryover each election.

Get rid of counting illegals in a census. That a given politician is beholden to their illegal population as their "constituents" is retarded.

If your goal is to get people to quit bitching you’re gonna have a long hard life.

It's amazing that Republicans finally get a win in this space and now people think it should be changed. The VRA for decades kept southern states from drawing politically advantageous districts. Meanwhile all liberal bastions gerrymandered the daylights out of their states.

Would everyone vote for these 40?

How the hell could a voter know the politics of 40 candidates??

We need to do things that make the House and Senate dissimilar. Repeal the 17t and return to the days of legislatures electing Senators to deal with state concerns. Leave the House as it is and keep the representatives accountable to their districts.
