Pre covid I was making trips in and out of China frequently. Plane would always have late term mothers on it. I even asked one I sat by why she was going to the States. It was to have her baby so they would have US citizenship.

Exactly. Birth Tourism is a thing and honestly, if youre from a shite hole country, it’s probably the best gift you could give your newborn child.

Honestly I believe if they want to claim it, then yes. They are.
That's the whole rub of it. It's absolutely ridiculous. The 14th Amendment was clearly passed to allow slaves born here to rightfully claim citizenship. Now it's just a bastardized mess. Among the 32 countries in NATO, the U.S. and Canada are the only two that have unrestricted birthright citizenship. The majority of Europe do not have it and many have changed their policies over the last several decades.
It's a very legit debate.

My mom went to Europe with my dad when pregnant with my youngest brother.
Also, you can drive from Canada or Mexico to go on vacation here.
I've driven to Mexico and Canada for vacation.
