This is the natural evolution of closing the insane asylums in the 80's.

Iran strikes back at the neighbor’s power and water facilities, then we get to watch a region-wide humanitarian crisis

This is the likely scenario unfortunately.

The average poster here is an ol baw from Louisiana. A different breed, definitely not sheltered and any privilege they have, they earned.

and Iran still doesn’t allow safe passage through the Straits?

I think we're in an endgame here and it sucks for just about everyone involved.

If it were me in this position, I'd destroy one very remote/rural power plant first if Iran refused to even talk negotiations like they have been just to show them I'm serious this time.

Then I'd release the following conditions:

For every ship attacked in the strait of Hormuz or by the Houthis or Hezbollah elsewhere, I knock out another.

For every ballistic missile launched, I knock out another.

For every drone attack, I knock out an important bridge.

Each one knocked out gets more and more important.

If IRGC leadership hardliners completely ignore my threats and continue on their current course despite taking extreme measures to kill their power across the country, I'd threaten to use our elite Intel agencies (and electricity we still have) to sow even more discord and arm your civilians with pallets of weapons and ammo in the dark. You have no power (literally) to stop it.

And if that threat wasn't enough on top of it all, I'd tell them after ALL of this - we'll peace out of the country entirely and let you stew in your own pitch black mess. Good luck in that instance!
