Rip REX, we didn’t agree on anything but I still respect people who love and treat their pets well.

Intellegent, maybe, logical, not.

My first interaction with Rex many years ago was when he posted about Truman being a war criminal for dropping the atomic bombs on Japan. He refused to accept how many Japanese and American lives were actually spared by ending the war with the bombs. Even after I posted articles citing the military studies on how many casualties there would have been if we would have invaded the Japanese mainland.

That's just one issue and one that is at least debatable. Of course we're going to claim we did the right thing.

It was a pretty clear window into the mind of a lunatic.

God rest his soul.

Damn. RIP.
Well damn. I feel bad about making a joke about him chasing a car and he caught it (being a dog and all). Lord forgive me.

I didn’t know him but I think I know who he was. If it’s him, he passed away on the same day as his last post here.

John was a great guy. Met him for lunch one time. Very entertaining person. Well traveled, well read, spent a lot of time in Russia. We emailed quite a bit.

From his obit:
quote:

He was a graduate of Fortier High School, LSU College of Arts and Sciences, and LSU Law School. John served in the United States Army in both the active and reserve component from 1969 to 1998 as a Quartermaster Officer and in the Judge Advocate General Corps retiring with the rank of Colonel. His military service took him from Okinawa to Egypt, but much of his career was as a Staff Judge Advocate with the 377th Theater Army Area Command based in New Orleans. Upon leaving the active service, John opened a law firm in New Orleans East with his best friend Lane Carson. In addition to the legal profession, John was also active in politics. John served on the Louisiana Republican State Central Committee, worked for The Free Congress Foundation, and advised and consulted on numerous political campaigns. His work as a political consultant led to becoming Vice President of the Krieble Institute. The D.C.-based organization was on the cutting edge of bringing democracy, free enterprise, and a free press to countries of the former Soviet bloc. Between 1989 to 1994, he made over fifty trips into Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, leading American political and business experts to share ideas of freedom and democracy, and organizing the trips of dozens of citizens from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Baltics, Central Asia and the Caucasus to observe and learn about the American political process.
