Genuinely curious to hear some intellectual arguments about this subject, although going into it my bias leans towards capitalism and pretty confident the poli board generally shares the same bias. Open to devil’s advocate arguments as well.

Which country has the largest middle class…. let that be your guide.

Hint, when the poor in America are among the richest in the world, that should also factor into your equation.

capitalism is the ONLY system that exists that allows poor people to leave poverty through hard work and smart decision making to the point where they can become rich

Good lord. Your question is premised on the argument that government must do something to take care of the middle class.

Insanity.

Capitalism =/= free market.

The answer is a free market with strong controls on anti-social actions. You must have a strong moral government looking out for the people. You also need government issued currency not a private central bank!!!

- low taxes
- bans on LGBT propaganda and the like
- bans on psychological damaging things like Facebook
- significant protections for worker well-being.
- significant limits on lobbying
- significant restrictions in excessive usury

The one that allows the middle class to take care of themselves and get out of the middle class if they so choose.

Failed premise from the start. It’s not the job of an “economic system” to take care of anyone. It’s up to them to flourish.

The question is… which economic system provides the best opportunity for talented and motivated people to succeed.

And it’s an easy answer. Have a look at immigration patterns, and where the worlds poor go to and away from.

Is not a thing. And you can list scenarios where if “X” is controlled then “Y” can happen but if you give a central body that control they won’t stop at just controlling “X” because

Wil never happen.

This is the same reason why the communist utopia will never exist and socialism sucks- human nature is to want more and if putting humans in charge of making sure everyone gets the same thing allows those things in charge to make sure they get everything.

You can probably make a good case for homogeneous European-style social democracy.

But you have to pair that with strict immigration controls and nationalism to make it sustainable.

Not with that attitude.

It has to happen. Natural Law.

That’s not really what I’m in search of with this topic. Not everyone can be as talented or motivated as the next guy. There’s plenty of people in this country with less of both that have made more given less opportunities. I don’t believe one should need to be anything spectacular in order to achieve middle class. What I’d like to know is which economic system is superior to all the others at achieving just that - taking an average Joe, all things equal, and seeing which enable him to reach middle class. The starting point I guess would be standard lower class, not necessarily bottom of the barrel.

And it might. Until it becomes corrupted again. Again, you’re holding hope for other humans you’ve never met, that you’ve given all this authority to in your scenario, to all of a sudden forget another natural thing- greed.

Capitalism.

Basically if you can’t make it in your own someone else will create something that can make you wealthy.

All the other systems destroy the middle class. You will have the elites, and then everyone else in even playing field without the ability to move up.

Those systems don’t reward effort.

Will there be a superpower sugar daddy that allows your country to spend nothing on defense because it's got you covered?
