The Paris one is from 2016 and just resurfaced because of the Floyd situation.

French authorities banned protests because of COVID-19 concerns.

LINK

quote:

Paris police banned on Tuesday a demonstration planned in memory of Adama Traore, a 24-year old black Frenchman who died in a 2016 police operation which some have likened to the death of George Floyd in the United States.

The Paris police department said in a statement that there were risks of social disorder and health dangers from large gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Eta: I might be wrong, according to this there was a Paris arrest where neck restraining was temporarily used:

quote:

The muscular arrest on May 28 in Paris of a black man who was momentarily immobilised face-up with an officer's knee and upper shin pressing down on his jaw, neck and upper chest is among those that have drawn angry comparisons with the killing of Floyd on May 25 in Minneapolis

Cant find anything on Madrid.

US should’ve done the same.

Thanks. I thought it was too coincidental to be in the same timeframe.

Controlling unruly, grown arse men is difficult.

During difficult times, mistakes are often made.

Cue the exploitation of the small number of incidents seen in the photo. People are cuffed and subdued all day every day across the world. These three photos are not part of some bullshite systematic problem other than poor training and a lack of awareness.

Turns out police violence is widespread. Who could possibly imagine a job requiring only high school education that allows an incredible authority would be abused?

It’s not some mystery lmao. Most police are good, But too many enable scum colleagues. Hopefully these events will help hold abusers accountable and return some legitimacy to the good folks involved in the job.

Disagree only in the sense that these protests will expose COVID as the most overblown response to a pandemic in the history of mankind.

If so, the only solution is to stay the frick home and starve while hiding from rebel armies, cannibalistic tribes and hungry lions instead of crawling to western nations and only to be "assaulted" by police.

It’s a common and legal practice

The only issue with Floyd was that they didn’t roll him over.

I have no thoughts on this except that it’s probably never necessary to continue kneeling on a guys neck after he’s cuffed.
