Stop gun toting evil doers at the door.

How is security placed around that? That's the importance.

Not wanting to get shot and killed? Well yeah.

With all due respect and not knowing what your background is anymore than you know mine, I will simply disagree with nearly everything you said except
"there is no fence, human profiling, metal detector, camera detectors, numbers of guards, guns, trip wire etc that will be 100% effective in preventing an intelligent bad guy from doing great harm."
Evil exists in this world. Period.
My heart goes out to the innocent men shot and in no way am I disrespecting them by my evaluation of this tragic situation.

It’s a church. Shouldn’t everybody be packing?

Nobody, mourns the loss of Family Men, more than I do.
It's hits me very close to home.
Intelligent good men, can defeat intelligent bad men every time, but it takes thought and planning.

There should be metal detectors on all doors of every residence so upon exit we know who is armed and should be disarmed!!!!

Bad guy was transient. No home doors for that fella. What then?

I'd rather a gun than a metal detector.

Do you see anybody saying for metal detectors to replace being armed? just another layer.

How does a non-member know what the pin means? He would have no idea.
The important thing is to stop the guy, before he can get inside to the congregation.
You saw what happened yesterday at that Church. Do you think that they had successful security?
Don't know what successful means but they killed the shooter as quick as they could and avoided greater loss of life
So yeah it was pretty successful

Do you know what failure means?
To me, when 2 good men get killed by 1 bad one, that's fricking failure.
Did you see that girl running around in the gray sweater? Tell her, how great the day was.
