The real problem is that a seasoned politician like Cuomo should know better. Sure you can argue it was taken out of context, but the problem is that 1)he retracted shortly after, amd 2)his opponents now have a big sound byte against him. Both of those are undeniable.

It was a dumb unforced error that might cost him in both the primary and in November.

You CANNOT take that line out of context.

Had he said "America is great, but we can be greater".. that is an acceptable statement. And one I would agree with.

His statement, in ANY context, is deplorable. In a non-biased media environment, that statement would LEAD most newscasts.

That's just retarded.

This is exactly what is done to Trump on a weekly if not daily basis. Now we care about context, snowflakes?

So blame the white man? That will sell well with the working unions types of NYC.

You don't think that having women fully engaged is good for this country?

Does that mean we need quotas?

As far as I can tell, women have the same rights as men.

You're a simpleton

What's stopping a woman's full potential being realized? The traditional need to have babies and a family? Puh-lease.

What time period would you consider America to be great? I have never heard a clear answer to this question...

I dunno.. maybe when we sent guys not of the current legal drinking age to Europe to face machine gun fire on the beaches to subsequently liberate an entire continent from Nazism?

To the Pacific to push back the conquering Japanese? Who we then aided to become a manufacturing juggernaut instead of punishing for the war?

Perhaps when we did the same in Korea when we saved half of the continent from communism and brutal dictatorial rule. And has also become a booming economy in the south of Korea?

How about when the US was the main country that pushed Commununism out of eastern Europe and made the lives of millions better?

Been to the moon in the 60’s.. anyone been there since? Got a rover on mars. Anyone else got one?

Invention after invention along with further innovation in every walk of life that has made the world a better place? Since the turn of the 20th Century?

How about right now? Top to bottom there is more liberty and opportunity in the US than anywhere in the world. Anywhere.

If you don’t have a clear answer yourself then you are just a lost freaking cause with zero awareness.

On paper, yes. In reality, no.

And if you don't see that, then you are the simpleton.

Be specific. What rights don’t they have?

Anxiously awaiting the platitudes and bumper stickers incoming.

I think Cuomo is exceedingly tone deaf to say something so stupid. However, I don't require 'Murric rah rah ism to get me through my day. I also don't need to pretend that the US's involvement in WWII was out of the goodness of its heart. I'm actually MORE proud of the fact that it was an incredible power move that was vastly self-interested.

Video of "America was never that great"

What a dick. Has he ever been outside America? I've been to 28 countries and America is 1000x better

The same Russia that imposed a brutal, iron fisted, communist rule on Eastern Europe? The same Russia that set up a government that would imprison or kill citizens for trying to flee from east Berlin to the west?

Not too damn great.

Exactly. I hate Russia and have always hated them. Sending troops to WWII has nothing to do with "greatness".
