Went to the local seafood shop last Saturday and it was packed with democrats. I asked why and the guy explained he had crawfish. They were $6.99 a pound!!! But can be bought with EBT.

Why should we have to compete with the government for crawfish?? No way the guy sells 25% of the crawfish he sold last weekend at $6.99 if the buyers where using their own money.

It is a great illustration of how welfare distorts markets whether it is food or health care or moon shots--anything.

Would this happen to be Capitol City Crawfish (next to Superior)?

You should only be able to eat certain things are all good for you if other hard working people are buying your meals for you. That way these lazy pieces of shite wouldn't hike our health insurance rates up so much too.

People bash the ebt program on here but it benefits children the most. A lot of these kids don't have much joy in their lives from other places. You ought to see the smiles on my kids faces when I whip out the ebt and tell them we're going out for boiled crawfish. They can barely load up in the escalade fast enough!

They are not supposed to be able to buy cooked crawfish, only live.

Red beans and rice should be the only thing allowed to be purchased on EBT. Dont like it? Get a job.

No I ask why he was so busy. I shop there frequently.

I said they were democrats.

The guy even had a crawfish line winding out the door and a line for everybody else. There was certainly demographic differences in the two lines that no one seemed to mind.

i agree (well, they aren't all lazy), but why are crawfish bad for you? I'd much rather them being eating that than the normal AA diet (these days).

What bothers me about this is not necessarily the people who are buying them....they are just doing what they are allowed to do.

What really pisses me off is that someone in our government has been paid off by the crawfish industry to subsidize the industry with our tax dollars. This allows those bastards to keep the prices inflated because the demand is kept high at the absolutely ridiculous price of 6 bucks a pound.

frick this corrupt state.

This happens all the time. Makes us pay way more for a few lbs of crawfish too.

My favorite is when I have enough to wait in a long line behind freeloaders then I finally get to the counter and pay with my own money.

I wasn't implying crawfish were bad for you. This is just an example of ebt users buying shite they can't afford so later on in the month they won't be able to get what they need. They shouldn't be able to buy expensive seafood or $18 ribeyes on EBT

They should be sent a case of MREs. I ate those during my military deployments. Good enough for me it's good enough for them.

how about simple economics....

$6.99 for a pound of crawfish.........versus $6.99 for a loaf of bread, and jars of peanut butter and jelly.

half a lunch versus a week of food.......

fricking asinine to GIVE people money without being able to tell them how to use it.

Give me just one other example.......just one.

My question was, "why are crawfish bad for you?" Not. "Is it a good idea to allow people to buy crawfish with EBT."

However, crawfish are certainly better for you than P,B&J, and the post I was replying to was about the health costs associated with poor nutrition.

I think I wandered into the OT.
