It’s called talking past the deal, and it made you completely accept the wall is happening by focusing on who will pay for it. Way to be clever.

Yep we’re on the hook for billions for a wall that’ll keep out roughly 0 illegals a year but there’s no sense in bringing that logic to this board. Just watch, in an ironic jab I’m going to get called a dem by some moron who thinks Trump cutting taxes and increasing gov spending is a good thing.

Yeah, you're not very informed on that.

I never actually thought Mexico would pay for it, so its not like I am getting something that I didn't expect.

I have a friend that used to be on the border patrol in Texas. He would disagree with you but I'm sure you have it all figured out.

How is it going to get paid? Trump will blow up NAFTA before he gets money for the wall from it. There’s nothing conservative about this administration and yet here you are eating out of their hand.

Are the tax cuts great? frick yeah they are but anyone who isn’t a complete moron understands that you also need meaningful spending cuts to maintain a healthy budget when you cut taxes. Y’all know that you don’t have to blindly support everything the Pres does just because we’re Republicans right?

If we see anymore than a 10% decrease in illegal immigration from the wall I’ll be shocked and I’ll eat crow but I just don’t think it will happen.

I watched the grilling of the DHS secretary. She wants some wall, some fence, some electronic surveillance, and more manpower.

What she said made sense.

I don't know what she needs but to a layman, I could see why she wanted more wall in certain areas.

You said it will keep 0 people out. That's just patently false. Walls work well for preventing bodies coming over. Drugs? Not so much.

your concern is noted.

Yeah, I get it.

I'm saying that barriers are effective at keeping people out whether they be physical or virtual.

manpower
I would rather see the 20 billion spent by hiring more BP Agents and giving them top of the line gear & putting in an extensive underground sensor system. We also need to figure a way to make sure that getting caught crossing the border carries a worse punishment than a bus ticket back to Mexico if we really want to curtail illegal immigration.

Not trying to be a smart arse...

Are you a border expert? Again, I'm really not trying to call you out.

Why are you opposed to more wall where DHS feels it's needed?

I'm with you though on being more punitive but I don't even know if that's effective.

More manpower and electronic surveillance is all part of the DHS proposal.

These people walk to the border from hundreds to thousands of miles away, after a journey like that would let a wall stop you? No, you’ll dig underneath it or take whatever route your coyote has across the border.

Will a wall keep some people out? Sure but it won’t keep out nearly enough to make any sort of noticeable difference. I just have a hard time justifying 20 billion for a symbolic barrier, I’d rather see it used on ways that get results.

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. It's like you didn't even try to make it sound like there was even a hint of logic or believably to it.. Can you explain the "logic" you claim to have a grasp of the would show even a smidgen of sense to it..i.e. a wall would keep 0 illegal criminal alien scum out?

Sad.
