Completely and utterly a liar.

You said you believed that we should be rehabilitating them and it works in many cases.

I told you then lets keep them long enough for them to be rehabilitated.

You responded with what betrays your true desire of no, too hard, lets not rehabilitate them.

You made an argument you don't even support yourself, you lied, and you know it.

When caught you bullshitted about oh "I'm sure the data supports speaking our of both sides of my mouth."

No honor dude.

No data supports you proposing something you don't actually support.

So I'm asking someone to explain what he said. I didn't say prison should be comfortable. He said it is designed for comfort. I want to know what he means by that.

This whole "prison is about rehabilitation". Is the same thinking of "we need to give billions of dollars because need to give people a hand up with welfare and housing" with no strings.

We already know that detaining people without rehabilitating them just leads to to more crime. I am proposing we stop throwing money at what we know doesn't work and try a different approach.

Can you explain why we should stick to what we know leads to high levels of recidivism instead of trying a different approach, which is attempting to rehabilitate criminals?

No, I posted the data that shows that it works far better than more incarceration for preventing future crimes.

I'm fairly certain in your emotional rant there I'm picking up signs that you may be confusing some of my posts with someone else's.

But since you are unwilling to have a substantial discussion about it and just want to angrily call me names, I really don't care to sort it out.

So...

There you go.

You finally got it. The tumblers finally clicked.

What you are asserting is unprovable. You have no basis to claim it. You just made it up. You can't substantiate it.

It is, in fact, stupid shite.

Good for you for finally figuring it out.

Which begs the question now that El Salvador is so safe shouldn't the Illegal Immigrants from El Salvador who are here want to go back home? None should be granted any form of asylum for sure. Right?

So we throw money at something they already have had plenty of chances to do on their own. Just like we do welfare. Cradle to grave handouts doesn't work either. But we keep right on trucking. Even with a labor shortage. Then we import tens of millions of foreigners under the guise of "who else will _______??" ... and then place them on welfare when they get here. Then we get more people idle.. with tons of time to commit crimes.

And if we are detaining them.... how are they committing more crime? Oh, we release them under the premise of "compassion". Then they are less than compassionate toward someone else that's innocent.

And tell me. How exactly do we "rehabilitate" a multiple time felon gang member? How do we "rehabilitate" someone with multiple felonies and multiple arrests?

How so we "rehabilitate" the multiple time felon I mentioned in my previous post that got caught again selling Glock switches? How exactly do we make him a productive member of society?

You think we are going to take a hardened gang member into confinement, "rehabilitate" them, and they all leave prison ready to open an auto shop, install HVAC, or do your bookkeeping?

And you say "let's try this" like it hasn't been tried. Are blue areas that embrace this model turning out model citizens? Is there a huge discrepancy, at the county and city level, where there is a large difference in prisoner outcomes? In the places that embrace what you say "we need to try"?

quote:

Can you explain why we should stick to what we know leads to high levels of recidivism instead of trying a different approach, which is attempting to rehabilitate criminals?

Yea. There is an easy and simple way to stop recidivism. When they are confined.. there is zero recidivism.

Again.. it's stupid easy to not go to jail. The dumbest of the dumb in this population manages to not do it. And if people didn't figure it out the first time.... how do they not know the second? Again. They aren't forced in. They volunteer. Why are we worried about people that volunteer to go?

Is this how you feel about the president of the United States and his crimes?

Annnd your strawman enters. Right on que. He did go to trial didn't he? I think your better strawman is Hillary Clinton who skated on her crimes. Or the Biden son that got daddy's pardon. Or Biden's brother that skated on Medicaid fraud. Or the DOJ employees that lied to the FISA court, or the congressmen that has necessitated the "congressional sexual abuse slush fund" for their exploits... or...

Using the most investigated president of all time by a weaponized DOJ and by other prosecutors that ran for office on "I'm going to prosecute him" isn't the best use of your argument is it?

Yeah! But according to SFP governments are not to protect the law abiding citizens.
Governments should release criminals in order to provide defense attorneys a sustained standard of living, I suppose.

Asking someone a question isn't a strawman. You have a problem with certain criminals. I'm wondering which crimes you find acceptable. If you don't want to address your acceptance of the criminal you throw your support behind every day, just state that plainly instead of calling my question a straw man.

This actually proves my argument. We have a corrupt penal system. You want to make excuses for mega-wealthy and politically connected celebrities who are convicted of crimes while arguing that every other criminal should either be executed or put away for life.

It’s common sense.

The danger can’t murder or rape if they are locked away in prison. Leave the dangers in prison. Save lives.

quote:

??Another Innocent Child Pays for Our Broken Justice System!

31-year-old Noemi Guzman walked into an Omaha Walmart, stole a butcher knife, and tried to kidnap a 3-year-old little boy. She slashed the toddler across the face and arm while he sat in the shopping cart.

Thank God, Omaha police officers arrived, ordered her to drop the knife — and when she refused and kept attacking the child, they took her out on the spot. The boy is expected to survive.

Just two years ago, this same woman stabbed her own father, doused him with flammable liquid, tried to burn the house down, then broke into a South Omaha church rectory armed with a knife, destroying property and terrifying a priest who had to be rescued out a window.

She was found not guilty by reason of insanity, given a treatment plan, and turned loose back onto the streets. Now a precious little boy has knife wounds because the system chose “mental health” over public safety.

End the insanity defense loophole for violent predators. Abolish judicial immunity. Hold judges and officials accountable when their soft decisions spill innocent blood.

Grow up and become a productive citizen. Life altogether isnt that difficult. You grow up learning, you graduate, you gain employment, you apply yourself, you succeed.

I've seen people that are absolute morons that have become productive members of society and raised children in a two parent household. The formula isn't that hard. It's never been.

Louisiana taxpayers spend more to fund the Department of Corrections than food stamps.

That's because SNAP is primarily federally funded.

So what we need? A large campus complete with therapists, psychologists, social workers, massage therapists, feet washers, and nuns with rulers?

There is an epidemic of low expectations in those day and age. "Well they can't help it", "well they are just victims of the system", "well they have to steal to survive", "well they need their candy and soda with EBT, it's a nice treat after such hardship", "they are too dumb to get an ID. It's not their fault"... etc.

Did he not get his trial? What's your issue?

Is your issue we need to have a law enforcement arm that is elected on the promise to relentlessly investigate and promise to prosecute only certain individuals?

Can't help but notice you ignored the rest. Ignoring the inconvenient is your 2nd pillar of posting. Like you refuse to acknowledge how easy it is not to go to prison and there is 100 percent public knowledge of consequences of committing crimes. And it came right after strawman.

quote:

This actually proves my argument. We have a corrupt penal system. You want to make excuses for mega-wealthy and politically connected celebrities who are convicted of crimes while arguing that every other criminal should either be executed or put away for life.

What excuses did I make? I posted verifiable facts.

Oh here we go. "Corrupt penal system". Again... how do you put a "corrupt" penal system out of business? Don't commit felonies. Simple. Yet so hard to grasp.

Is it really hard to not rob someone? Is it difficult to not steal? Is it hard to not shoot someone? Are drug dealers forced into the trade? Is there this irresistible urge to assault people? Any of this I have wrong?

And yet here we are again sympathetic to the plight of the felon and the victim is discarded right after the trial. The felons get advocates, free representation, free therapy, crying Karen's sobbing about their inhumane plight, focus groups, studies, etc. and the victims get zilch of that. All because of the absolute low expectations that permeate this society.

You wanna know how we can come to an agreement on "rehabilitation"? We put felons to work for minimum wage and make every dime go to the victim to pay off a fair restitution. This will also fill some of these jobs that we apparently need Central Americans to come here to fill.

Second option for some is an optional special military "rehabilitation" group focused on eventual entry into the armed forces for a set amount of time. Reserved for screened, acceptable, offenders with low level offenses and first timers only.

Deal?

Do you believe that we should incarcerate all criminals for life? That seems to be the only logical conclusion to your stance of not providing any rehabilitative services to people who get convicted of crimes. Once someone has been convicted, they have demonstrated that they didn't "grow up and become a productive citizen." Our recidivism rates prove that detaining people doesn't magically equip them with the skills necessary to "grow up and become a productive citizen."

In your model, the President of the United States would be incarcerated until he dies.

quote:

The formula isn't that hard. It's never been.

You're using a lot of emotional and subjective language. The fact that so many people are incarcerated shows that it's not hard to go to prison, either.

quote:

So what we need? A large campus complete with therapists, psychologists, social workers, massage therapists, feet washers, and nuns with rulers?

Institutionalizing and dehumanizing offenders has proven not to be an effective rehabilitative strategy. We could adopt something like what was done at the Norfolk Prison Colony in the 30s, 40s and 50s.

quote:

There is an epidemic of low expectations in those day and age. "Well they can't help it", "well they are just victims of the system", "well they have to steal to survive", "well they need their candy and soda with EBT, it's a nice treat after such hardship", "they are too dumb to get an ID. YOU are the one with the low expectation. You are convinced that everyone who has been convicted of a crime is a total piece of shite that deserves to be executed or locked in a cage until death.

Except for one ultra-wealthy reality TV star convict who somehow couldn't afford an adequate defense attorney.

quote:

Did he not get his trial? What's your issue?

I have no issues with his convictions. You talk about convicts like they are garbage despite the fact that you come here to defend a criminal convict every day. I guess you make exceptions for criminals you like?

quote:

We put felons to work for minimum wage and make every dime go to the victim to pay off a fair restitution.

Inmates work for less than minimum wage. Not every felony has a victim, anyway. You don't know very much at all about the system you're opining about.

Didn't say that. But slap on the wrist sentences get innocent people killed. There are examples after examples.

quote:

Once someone has been convicted, they have demonstrated that they didn't "grow up and become a productive citizen." Our recidivism rates prove that detaining people doesn't magically equip them with the skills necessary to "grow up and become a productive citizen."

They didn't because they CHOSE not to. And keep on choosing not to. Some idiots just wanna sell dope and hang out instead of working. Some people wanna run chop shops for quick money instead of working. But guess what... they KNOW the consequences if they are caught. Don't they?

quote:

In your model, the President of the United States would be incarcerated until he dies.

Recenter the strawman. you are on your knees hoping to pivot the topic aren't you?

You again missed the part, evidentially, where I also asked if you wanted elected law enforcement and judicial officials to run and get elected on punishing one person or group while telling others they are fine and they won't be prosecuted.

Oh and in your premise that it's supposedly unfair... you still fail to acknowledge the others I mentioned that didn't even get prosecuted for their crimes. That's an issue here isn't it? Fairness? So you choose to hammer on the one that actually was prosecuted and not the ones that skated consequences because of who they are? Surely you jest.

quote:

You're using a lot of emotional and subjective language. The fact that so many people are incarcerated shows that it's not hard to go to prison, either.

I'm not using any of the sort of language. You can't refute that it's very very very very very simple to not go to prison. What is emotional and subjective about that?

And of course it's not hard to go to prison. You just have to volunteer by committing a crime you already know that leads there. They are all volunteers. There wasn't a prison draft. There was no conscription. There was no van going around kidnapping people. They volunteered.

quote:

Institutionalizing and dehumanizing offenders has proven not to be an effective rehabilitative strategy

Yea. That's saved for the victims and how they feel afterwards. Whom you have yet to acknowledge their issues.

quote:

YOU are the one with the low expectation.

False. Completely and entirely false. I believe minorities are fully capable and intelligent enough to get IDs to vote. I think they are smart and resourceful enough. I believe everyone knows what consequences are for their actions. I believe everyone is intelligent and resourceful enough to not need cradle to grave handouts. I believe people can navigate life without harming others multiple times without having to explain it to them like a child. And I believe everyone knows how to already, legitimately make money. I don't believe deviant, loud, and lawless activities are anyone's ""culture"".

quote:

I have no issues with his convictions. You talk about convicts like they are garbage despite the fact that you come here to defend a criminal convict every day. I guess you make exceptions for criminals you like?

I talk about them like grown men and women who know what they are doing when they did it and with that comes the consequences. YOU talk about them like they are too stupid to know what wrong and right is. YOU talk about them like they are too dumb to function without assistance. YOU talk about them like they are too dumb to know how to interact in society. That's YOU woman.

quote:

Inmates work for less than minimum wage. Not every felony has a victim, anyway. You don't know very much at all about the system you're opining about.

Well if they do it anyway.. we have an agreement on some middle ground don't we? What better character and skill building than to be assigned to a road crew laying asphalt? To get construction experience roofing buildings? What about landscaping experience planting trees and shrubs? Actual real world experience that can be used later in life. That is great rehabilitation, right? And the victim gets paid back as well.

And the military option? How about that structure and discipline that would be learned? Patriotism and teamwork that would be fostered?

What you say?
