Let that sink in for a minute.

Should a war take place or should the supplier "cut off" the USA and a terrorist attack happens, we can not produce enough to get the grid back up!

Why are so many threads started with a statement of fact with absolutely no proof or a link to proof that the statement is in any way factual.

I'm not saying what you've said isn't true but is it that hard to provide a link or something?

ooohhhhhh, lets negotiate from fear and cynicism...

dumbass if war happens the power grid steel will be the least of your worries. and man, that would be one hell of a terrorist attack to take down all of our grid towers.

edit to add....idiot

So now we're worrying about where it is used?

I'm 99% sure that is a false claim. How about a link?

In addition, i'm sure you are trying to use word play to sensationalize your argument. Maybe try retyping it truthfully?

We CURRENTLY have 1 plant that produces steel used for our electric grid.

We have many steel plants in this country that can and do produce steel for various items in our electric grid.

Such a poor attempt to bolster your talking point.

You need to research this a little more.

Well the obvious solution is tariffs and trade wars

And I am 100% certain I am right!

1 plant in all of North America produces electrical steel. We have to import over 85% of it. That plant is owned by AK steel.

Btw.... it takes up to 2 years to build a new LPT.

Know why? Because manufacturing is cheaper to do elsewhere. That's the whole point of reducing taxes here and increasing them elsewhere...to not only stop businesses from moving away, but to bring businesses back.

What the hell is electrical steel? Wire? Generator components? Electrical stands? Transformers components?

Post a link of this "fact".

As someone who works in the electrical industry I find this observation of his to be laughably stupid and irrelevant

Maybe 1 plant is sufficient for whatever "electrical steel" he is talking about.

Or maybe these businesses need to do a better job of competing and not rely on protectionist policies

Yeah, there is no description other than "electrical steel" which is not a type of steel. Steel falls into several grades and material classes.

Also, a steel producer has to undergo certification to produce a type of steel which is not impossible.

Without clarification from the OP of what he means by "electrical steel" this is merely an exercise in self gratification with no substance.
