Venezuela’s economy is so awful, its citizens are increasingly turning alternative currencies, including Bitcoin and even internet memes.

Software developers use Bitcoin and “Rare Pepe” trading cards to mask their transactions. Such crypto-currencies grant anonymity, meaning it’s harder for Venezuela’s socialist government to control the tech industry. Others have noticed and started using digital money in place of paper money.

Socialists are like that guy in Monty Python and the Holy Grail that keeps building castles that sink into the swamp. They think one of these times it will work.

It has worked like a charm in the United States for what, 240 years now?

Market economics with some centrally administered redistribution plans is not Socialism no matter how many times you allege it to be.

No one has ever advocated for full on socialism in this country. Parts of it are good even if this board won't admit it.

That's because they wouldn't get elected. But a lot of them would LOVE to have it.

Name 3 parts that are good.

What parts are those? In order for anyone to understand your position, you have to define the terms of that position. How do you define "socialism" in the framework of your claim that the US should adopt it, or already has adopted it. Also is there a name for this limited form of socialism? What mechanism is there that would limit its "mission creep" into full communism (which is what socialism is)?

Thanks.

the best part about the Venezuelan BTC industry is that the country gives out free electricity, which is a major issue when mining BTC. so, BTC miners have taken full advantage of this government subsidy to...frick the government

German is easily the single biggest "tries too hard" poster on this board.

I am not the one who claims that it is...I am merely using the term as it is understood on these message boards. None of the countries many here claim are socialist are no more socialist than the US.

So you're in agreement with the conservatives who point out that a safety net for the truly needy is not socialism.
It's the libs and leftists who try to equate the two by claiming we already have a form of socialism.

You side with the conservatives on that issue, right?

That means all of the countries we claim are socialist are indeed more socialist than the US. Thanks for agreeing with us.

No, things like social security and. Obamacare are not socialism....anymore than a stop sign.....but when the right claims otherwise then they have redefined the term......
