Tariffs are taxes.

I’m certainly no expert in tarrifs, which is why I haven’t opined. You , and a host of others, could learn something from that.
You don't read enough. One can hold a nuanced view of a subject without being an expert in a particular field. And I'm not talking about social media bullshite, I'm talking long-form pieces from the actual experts holding a variety of different viewpoints. It's all out there for you to consume.
Is that too hard for you to do? Easier to just pretend you're taking the high road by being admittedly ignorant? I mean, congrats? For those of us who have intellectual curiosity, it's ENJOYABLE to read, learn, and discuss.

am not saying tariffs are bad or even that they are not needed but don't lie about the numbers and use them surgically instead of ham fisting it and don't engage the entire world in economic warfare at once. If that foments a wide spread trade alliance against us it could be an uphill fight.
Right. This dude has the entire world hating us at once.

What you just quoted is fricking peanuts compared to the stated goal of meaningfully reducing the trade deficit. We’re talking about likely trillions of dollars of investment needed and a reorganization of the entire American economy from a service-based economy to a manufacturing economy, all while having higher labor costs than the rest of the world.
You make it sound like there's no manufacturing here already. It's not a binary thing. Also, I was providing the quote to show one example of how small changes can be made, and showing one of the desired outcomes of these moves.
That said, I do agree they could be more strategic in nature, but I also was not in the room when the tariffs were being discussed.

nope, never gonna happen.
Over 2 trillion dollars of new business in this country since January is a hell of a rebuttal.

You may be want to look up when most of those contracts were signed.

Trump 2.0 is objectively a disaster so far, and likely not getting any better. I had way more money and things were stable under Biden.
America chose poorly.

This has to be a troll job.

Clearly, more people have faith in him over the ignorance that is Biden-Harris

It says a lot more that these were our two options. We have evolved away from the two party system. It was a checks and balance within itself, but we need a 3rd major party, however; the two major parties will do anything they can for that to not happen

We need to stop voting for and electing men that should have been put out to pasture. Instead, we have 80 year olds running the country consecutively.

There's this idea that manufacturing will magically shift back to the US in the long term. It won't.
What are you even talking about?
$10 Billion Data Center in North LA
$5 Billion Hyundai Steel Mill in South LA
$16 Billion Data Center in MS.
Apple will spend more than $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years.
Ford announced that will not be affected much by Tariffs since 80% of their production is in US.

I truly wish the party system was dissolved and people would think for themselves & vote for their beliefs (despite what others think).
Posted on 4/3/25 at 7:18 pm to Roy Curado
You think data centers are manufacturing? Lol
Posted on 4/6/25 at 8:20 pm to VABuckeye
Do you think they are buying materials that have high tariffs or are being produced locally? Lol
Posted on 4/6/25 at 9:20 pm to Roy Curado
My business is data centers. I know plenty about them.
