Maybe they are vetting the NG troops to see how many can be counted on to follow unlawful orders to fight the attempt by whatever element of the military to take control
NG troops with no live ammo—yup this is a sound take. LOL

The D.C. National Guard said in a statement that the cost per day of up to 5,000 National Guard members was about $2.65 million
So 30,000 troops = 6 x 2.65
Or
16 million minimum per day
Sounds like a frick ton..... But actually the math checks out. Averages 533 per troop. When you average in all equipment and fuel costs, it sounds reasonable to some extent.

This is with them cheaping out and not housing them in hotels or even giving them cots to use.

It does, but from the source in my post, which was DC Natl Guard, don’t know if it was a national figure or just DC.
Figure $20 million rounding times days?

The number of troops deployed in D.C. is more than three times those in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
With 2,000 of them being deputized U.S. Marshals.

I really don’t understand what the left is doing here. It feels theatrical

Yes they are, to send a message
As Tucker C noted tonite asking why Nat Guard from all states over including Alaska were called, the troops are not there for the inauguration- they are there to show the rest of us who is in power.
PS from NY Post

The Pentagon has deployed 750 specially trained members of the US military — including bomb squads and trauma medics — to Washington, DC, amid security concerns over Wednesday’s inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.
The troops also include active-duty personnel trained in “extraction and decontamination operations” following attacks with chemical, biological, nuclear, radiological and explosive weapons, the Department of Defense said Monday.

30,000 troops deployed for a non event in D.C., protecting our dear leaders.
0 troops deployed in American cities while they burned, were looted as no one protected people's businesses and way of life.

Trump, the most hated president of all time, got 0 troops to provide security to protect him from the angry masses
Biden, the most loved president of all time because he got the most votes ever in the most secure election, gets 30k troops to protect him from the loving masses
I'll do you one better. Our first black president didn't need any troops to protect him from our society filled with a bunch of apparent white supremacists

The biggest question I have is who besides Trump has the authority? I don’t have and haven’t heard a good answer to that.
