Even the delegates from the states that had to be dragged into the fray kicking and screaming were formidable and well spoken men. Men of honor, principles, independence, and seriousness.

We seemingly have lost those men in government now. Our government now is government of the least common denominator.

Will there ever be another group of men as talented as those of which that formed this nation of ours in the history of the world?

FWIW: Jefferson is by far my favorite founder.

Capitalism is wonderful but it isn’t perfect. One of the downsides is that our greatest minds venture into areas far away from politics.

Nobody ever wants to hear this, but I truly believe that radically raising Congressional pay would help. There is always at least some talent, even in far-flung counties/districts. But hell - why would they stay to run for office and make whatever paltry amount that is instead of cashing in elsewhere.

If each seat paid $1M, I guarantee you the quality of the chamber would improve.

Larger than life and the debates they held would go so far over the heads of today’s political class. The next 200 years will not be like our first 200 years.

if you could only time travel and tell them to put term limits in the constitution...they never imagined anyone would want to be career politicians...

It’s a shame so many are turned off by his stance on religion, because he was truly one of the great western minds.

Capitalism is the driving force behind everything wrong with America. Cheap foreign labor, woke capital, owning politicians.

So what would be your vastly superior economic system? Keep in mind that you’ll have to overcome a system that has made the poorest of this nation live better than the richest in others.

Sure it is if you're a shiftless, worthless individual who relies on a govt check.

Venezuela or Cuba would be perfect for you.

The irony of course being that he had studied Christianity more than 99.99% of Christians.

Seems as if someone hasn’t read the history of the founders’ thoughts on slavery.

The pay must have been really good in 1776.
