When you kneel during the National Anthem of a nation, you are disrespecting that Nation. You don't get to parse your words, dude.
Don't spin it. If they want to make a specific point, make a speech because what they are doing now is contemptuous of the USA as a whole. It's the same as if they were peacefully and silently protesting by burning the US flag.
