The Washington Monument will remain closed indefinitely to the public to protect staff and visitors from COVID-19, the National Park Service (NPS) said Saturday.

Along with the Washington Monument, all indoor attractions managed as part of the National Mall and Memorial Parks — such as the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument, Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site and tours of the Old Post Office Tower — have also been closed.

Awww, isn't that wonderful, the gov't protecting us from the evil virus! Bye bye tourism! Hmmmm, no word if those priceless federal employees will continue to get paid anyway.

The people's monuments and historic sites being made off-limits to the people by the tyrants. Wouldn't have anything to do with them being scared of their own shadows, would it?!?!

That’s because it’s a huge phallic symbol built to honor a slave owner

the Old Post Office Tower

To get to the tower, you ride an elevator in the atrium of Trump Hotel. It gives one of the best views of the city when the Washington Monument was closed.

That's exactly what's going on. Biden removed a ton of historical stuff from the white house.

I’m sure they will receive $300 million in the next stimulus for being closed 2 weeks

I wouldn't be surprised if it stays closed.

They do seem to be afraid of the people, and their fear could push them to limit access to Washington.

This feels weird. 25k troops and they’re closing off tourism.

Something isn’t right.

They going to bring back the barricades Obama used to close the open-air memorials during his shutdowns?

The problem of limiting access to Washington is that most of DC’s workers commute from NoVa and MD.

Try requiring that anyone working in DC have a residence in DC. I dare you.

They would probably close down the whole federal district area of the city to avoid the commoners if they could.
