Yeah that’s another caveat is you pick up a felony those sweet benefits are gone.

If a veteran is reviving a benefit and gets in trouble with the law and goes to jail. The benefit is reduced to 10 percent for the duration of incarceration. You can file for it back after they get out and it’s reinstated.

A mental health rating under VA almost always allows the veteran to qualify for medical marijuana. So they don’t have to drink.
Anyways, this guy is not a piece of shite.
He’s a great guy in fact. He can fight some pretty significant mental issues and they get very serious when he drinks. It has been that way since we were in high school.
He’s on full disability now after serving 2 tours. He’s completely fine. He still has drinking issues that have never left him.
As his friend, I cannot believe he is allowed to drink and receive benefits. I cannot believe anyone would be ok with that.

You act like the military is a bunch of degenerates, which is true, but you also think very highly of yourself while being very ignorant and acting like you’re a veterans best friend.
What your buddy does to deal with his shite is none of your concern. Almost everyone in the world who has a mental condition is likely on scripts or abuses something. Hence why veterans get a thing called compensation because they didn’t enter the service w a mental health issue… and thus why we are here talking about it.

I’m trying very hard to be civil while explaining to you the best I can. You’ve also insulted people in this thread so don’t act like a victim. We are clearly more than happy to discuss it with you. Some of the veterans on here already have. Again this is why I’m honestly thinking about talking this state VSO job because veterans don’t have a lot of people who actually understand them.

Also the trade off here of taking away benefits would cause a volunteer military to become a drafted military.
I promise you there isn’t a scheme to where recruiters are saying hey man come join so we can give you mental issues but you’ll be set because you’ll easily get $3500. Like seriously that’s what you guys are arguing like it’s something easy or desired. I’m pretty sure veterans would rather not have issues and feel like they’re 18 again. Don’t forget the other part of the argument is that they are working full time jobs and earning bank. Guess the military did something.

This isn’t true at all. The military used to recruit just fine before everybody got a check. The struggle started in the 2010s around the time the money printer turned on

Do you guys have a problem with teachers not paying social security and retiring early through massive state pensions while working jobs in the summer and after they’re retired? All while their education was likely subsidized and they’ve never spent a day outside of a classroom?

If you take the he job let me know I have a syllabus I came up with that makes explaining the benefits to veterans. A lot of good information for someone new into it.

We’ve taken it as far as we can.
Hell they won’t even talk to the vet in here saying “uhh, yeah this shite is happening it’s obvious af.” Turned straight to “you’re either not a vet or you didn’t do shite when you were in.”
These are not good people we’re speaking to here. Nobody this uncompromising and tribal can be a good person.

$4200 a month for life plus the other perks is life changing money for 99% of the world. And probably 90% of this country.
