The payments are in the way of us money not heading out of country to theirs. The 10k troops they have sent to the border is sorta sweet too. The drugs that are not coming across means more US dollars staying here rather than going to Mexico. I could go on and on but you should get the point. Here's a little primer in security. A security/border wall is to deny, deter, delay, detect, and intercept.

There are 2 walls, a primary and a secondary, in place in many places and more are being constructed.

Walls built to milspecs. 18 foot, sometimes up to 30 foot bollard style wall with high-strength steel reinforced with concrete and rebar.

They going down 10-12 deep with concrete footing that is 2 foot thick.

Besides, we are not just talking about a physical wall. There is tons of new tech that is in place on the southern border.

*Mobile Surveillance Systems (MSS). They can be deployed in depth away from the border, to cover smuggling routes, supply and pickup points.

*Autonomous Surveillance Towers (AST). Each (manned) MSS or (unmanned) AST can effectively cover multiple miles.

*Linear Detection Systems, like Integrated Fixed Towers, serve as a continuous tripwire along the border, but use different sensors to seismically (by vibration)
detect incursions (footfalls, vehicles, tunneling, or sawing of bollards).

*Unmanned Ground Sensors (UGS) are a whole class of products that can be disguised, and provide a varied gauntlet of detection.

*Aerial assets can see deep into Mexico for very early warning of approaches in rural areas, as well as providing powerful tracking capability.
Small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) can be deployed by a single Border Patrol Officer (or small team), similar to a Go Pro camera drone (but with Night tracking capability).

Bigger drones cover wider areas up to the mighty Predator Drones, which CBP owns and operates, as well as receiving greatly increased support flights from the Military.

Tethered Aerostats (blimps) cover long stretches, and Helicopters, like CBP’s Blackhawks, can drop fresh interdiction teams onto exhausted infiltrators who have been chased for miles on the ground.

Stadium like lighting along borders that are motion activated along with high-speed access roads for CBP .

Black Hawks are in use and more on the way.

There is more tech that is being kept under-wraps to keep the cartels and coyotes guessing.

New CBP agents are being recruited and trained.

Lots of old and new tech are right now in use.

Have the Air Force run training flights along the border, buzzing any groups that approach it.

He's talking about a fence - a fence that is bypassed very easily every day. Just build the wall, already. I thought Elon was saving billions - build the fricking wall.

Tell their parents to watch those videos. We are not forcing them, their parents, grandparents, etc... to step on those mines, in fact we are using them as a deterrent to keep the frick out. This just for the Rio Grande Valley Sector. Its a vital border area that is now a top priority.
