Vietnam Era Boomers: Question for you.

During those years, how obvious was it that the US Left were actively rooting for the USA to lose that war and for the Viet Cong to win that war?
I ask because it is quite obvious to me today that the US Democratic Party is actively rooting for China and trying to damage the USA right now.
So, I'm wondering whether it was quite this obvious back in the day during that very tough war.
Thanks.

I think the soldiers figured it out when the left was spitting on them as they returned.

Aren’t all boomers in the Vietnam era?

Walter Cronkite declared that the Viet Kong and North Viet Nam won the Tet offensive after their leaders acknowledged it was a total failure.
Walter Cronkite was personally responsible for the USA withdrawal...

It was a Democratic War.John Kennedy sent first soldiers there and LBJ escalated it bigly.

I like the way you think. Look no further than the immigration act of 1965.

And this vile, evil, filthy f*cking traitorous C*NT is still a hero of the left.

Off subject but always thought LBJ had something to do with Kennedys death. He looks corrupt.

It was very obvious, but the left then was much smaller and less organized and kind of looked down on, even by the MSM.

The anti-government movement started long before the Vietnam war, or the US's involvement in it. Socialists like Sal Alansky did what they do best and infiltrated that movement (much like a virus takes over a host) and shaped it to redirect that (anti) mentality toward the US as a whole.
Those collage kids of the day would group to infiltrate colleges and universities today and further spread their anti-American message.
Truly sickening what the communists and socialist have done to this country.

The problem with the left back then was that they disagreed with US policy concerning Viet Nam, but they took it out on the sailors and soldiers They called us baby killers and worse.

They were all alive during the era, but some may have been little kids and not really aware of the political climate.

The radical left wanted the US military to fail in battle in order to achieve the objective of withdrawing US troops totally. But when they became too chummy with the Congs (think Jane Fonda) they were rejected by the overwhelming majority of US citizens.
It was a fine line between being 'pro peace' and 'anti US' in protests. That's why Kent State was such a mess. Those kids who were killed by the guard were peaceful protesters.
There was no sympathy for the Norks or their cause. It wasn't like the majority US support of South Africa to overthrow white rule later on.
But the Commies did attempt to persuade for their cause with radio broadcasts which I listened to on a short wave band coming from Cuba.
The reports were of heroic deeds by 'freedom fighters' against the 'colonialist American forces.'
No one here was buying that propaganda. We just wanted it to be over.

The far left was doing more than just rooting. Most left organizations were taking funding and advice directly from the Soviet Union and China. In addition during the later stages of that war, protest were coordinated with US war actions, effectively turning a military action into a political action.

Their tactics..which were and are very successful..originated with Antonio Gramsi and "The Long March Through the Institutions."

It was the first televised war. People came home from work in the evenings and saw news footage of jungle combat while eating their tv dinners.

quote:good grief, child. You don't understand at all. It was mostly hippie types that were opposed to the war. The political left was much more moderate, almost conservative, then. those militant hippie socialists hadn't hijacked the democrat party yet at that point.
