A boat that small is not built for a trans-ocean trip. Venezuela to mainland US? Not enough gas, open boat with no heavy weather protection.

Agree. I guess that boat could have been taking the drugs to another location to hookup for the final transport to the US?

how does that square with maritime law =

I'm with you in that I'm fine with this happening, but I do wonder about the legality of this. I have read that this happened in international waters, so this would give the US more leeway in their actions. Either way, I fully expect lawsuits from the families of the drug runners and saber rattling from Venezuela.

Yes, agreed. most news sources were saying that their heading suggested another Caribbean Island.

C'mon, man. You guys are better than to fall for this. It's some kind of step in the process to take out Maduro.

It's sad watching anti-interventionist MAGA fall for the same old played out tricks.

Only this dummbass adminstration would think wasting a $300,000 missile on a $5k boat with maybe $10k worth of drugs is worthwhile endeavor

Make it make sense

So Venezuela doesn't traffic drugs into the US?

How do you know how much was there?

Also, if you don't see that this was filmed and posted to send a message, then I don't know what to tell you.

It is good to see you suddenly worry about Gov waste, though.

They probably do, as well as a handful to a dozen other countries. Does that give us the carte blanche to blow up any boats anywhere in the world from any country because of it?

But - how does that square with maritime law == can you just 'disappear' boats/people in the open ocean - outside of wartime?

This here, no love lost to pirates and killers but smoking a boat suspected of drugs?

That is a bit much. There is a lot of information that we are not privy to.

Probably. But the statement said that the boat was headed to the US. That’s just freaking ridiculous. And actually, the product could have been headed to a lot of different places.

You think 11 gang members were navigating open ocean in a 5k boat with half a key of blow?

I hope you’re not that dumb.
