USAA just pretended your direct deposit was still occurring through previous shutdowns, if you were .gov or .mil.

continue to get reelected

I’m not so sure about this statement, anymore. I don’t believe we have seen a clean and fair election, of any office, in decades.

I am still amazed that paying our military is not considered essential.

Most military isn't essential. Why should they be given special consideration?

The salaries of all those people probably don't come close to the amount of money our "elected" politicians have fleeced from the tax payers through insider trading and other nefarious shite.

Backpay for what? If you not working, we don’t owe you any money. They need people to pick fruits and vegetables. Have at it

I'm a dual status federal employee and I am a big time saver. 85% of my military check goes to TSP and maximum TSP on civilian side. I save 6 months worth of household bill money. I don't understand how anyone could live paycheck to paycheck. I live well below my means so that I can retire comfortably without social security. And I vote shut it down. There are way to many government employees that skate at work and do the minimum allowable. To many get decent performance appraisals that don't deserve it.

They're going to sit on their arse, work their second job, and get back pay for not working when this gets resolved. Cry me a river.

This is so insanely ignorant I almost feel bad for you.

Agreed. But non-targeted workers could also not get paid. Deployed military members could not get a paycheck. So an enlisted person with a family at home could start not getting checks, that seems problematic to me.

They will get paid but at the end of Oct those paychecks will end.
