Most of these guys throw out something like this occasionally so they can convince themselves and others that they aren't completely biased

I did think him admitting Trump did something good for poor people with Opportunity zones was interesting, because truthfully that could be the most important aspect of tax reform

You must be kidding! Whatever iota of respect I once has for @VanJones68 is gone. I hope @CNN, who have already devalued their brand hosting and hiring @realDonaldTrump toadies of late, let this man go ??

I do think Van is more self aware than almost anyone else at CNN (with Tapper being his only competition). I do think he considers what he says and he openly loathes PC Culture. Do you think Don Lemon, Simone Sanders, or Chris Cuomo ever think about what kind of damage they’re doing? Of course not, they sleep like babies. Van will admit to fricking up though and wants to civilly engage with the other side to understand them. To those other three I mentioned, everyone is a racist homophobe if you remotely disagree with them.

If I were to buy out CNN, I’d fire everyone but Van, Tapper, and Cooper (simply for his good coverage of mass shootings that would be required from that day forward from all journalists at CNN). The fact that a so called objective reporter is the brother of the governor of New York is ridiculous. At least Van is honest that he’s biased as frick, but he tries his best not to be.

Hillary lost 9.1 million Obama voters to Trump, so something was clearly up to where racism couldn't explain it.

Sexism. The patriarchy is strong in this nation. Remember, blacks got their rights before women ever did

Van is an enigma. His politics are batshit crazy, even for the left, but he's generally more willing to engage in discourse with the right than most others are. He'll say something reasoned and insightful one minute, then his emotions get the best of him and he spews divisive garbage the next.

As early as 2015, when his colleagues were laughing off the legitimacy of Trump's candidacy, he was saying the Dems would be foolish to dismiss him and his supporters. Then he comes out recently and makes that bizarre heroic comparison between Jackie Robinson and Jussie Smollett.

I think Van is a probably a decent dude, but his loud mouth makes him easy to dislike.

Very fair post. Van will let his crocodile mouth overload his jaybird arse. But I think he knows he has a jaybird arse while the rest of CNN think it’s as impenetrable as a rhino’s.
