Honestly, and not surprisingly, I’m not concerned.

Good luck.

Real estate in California is extremely desirable and will always keep the state a hot commodity for retirees.

Somebody in San Francisco emailed my wife a listing in Palo Alto. A double wide in a trailer park for sale. $800,000. A trailer

You aren't kidding.

If I recall correctly, the states initial response to them was using tax payer money to help pay some of their bills like maintenance.

The taxes and the abuse of those monies by that state are just wild.

Really? How many do you know that retired to Cali? Living out there for the last 40 years and riding it out to the end, I understand. U-Haul receipts disagree. I moved an at the time 80 yo uncle in '22 out of Sacramento and a 83 yo aunt out of Pasadena in '24. Each had been out there since the 1980s. It's been at least 15-20 years since I knew anyone who took a job, much less retired in California.

Plenty of people, particularly those with new money, will gladly retire to Santa Barbara or Carlsbad. Anyone would. Don’t pretend like you wouldn’t if you could afford to.

Plenty of people that are liberal. Its one thing to afford to live there, its another to be able to put up with them on a day to day basis. Same thing with Colorado. I know multiple people that could easily afford to live in Cali or Colorado and chose to move away not because of the politics of the state, but because of the politics of the people and putting up with their neighbors, cities, etc.

Also, and I'm sure its been mentioned, Newsome and Co are fine with high gas prices as they want everyone to go Electric and this only makes that make more sense financially. Not because Electric is cheaper, but because gas is even MORE expensive than Electric.

They’re gonna tax the shite out of EVs soon enough to make up for loss fuel taxes. Or just tax the billionaires more until they move out and take their companies with them.

Nope. Not wishing luck to an idiot who lives somewhere where you’re paying $5 a gallon for gasoline. Enjoy your rickshaw.
