He ran it too late although it helped him close the gap down the stretch but not enough.
Gillespie is a boring milk toast candidate that cannot inspire and excite people to vote for him. He's definitely a Bush type protege and campaigned like it until he figured out it wasn't working.
He needs to get out of politics as he just doesn't have it in him to win a statewide race.

He absolutely did. The MS 13 ads, statue rants, that sexual predator ad, etc. I live in VA (prob the only one in this thread), you should see the absurd mailers I got daily from EGs campaign.
He was banking on Trumps strategy to win, didn’t work. RN is another boring candidate who doesn’t excite anyone but he’s not dirty like HRC was. VA rejected the shite out of Trump, Ed never stood a chance. 2018 is going to be real interesting.

Gillespie is a Swamp-feeding Rhino Republican who deplored Trump, never endorsed him and avoided him until the end of his own campaign until he know he'd already blown it. He was doomed from the start.
Typical Va Republican Senate or Guv candidate...GOP Establishment. That era is over but they just don't get it.
