On second thought imagine having emails and Sally's letter didn't arrive with à perfume smell.

We sent a dude up to the flight deck for monkey watch coming past Gibraltar one time. We made sure he was dressed properly, with the right monkey-fighting equipment and off he went.

Glad this didn't happen during WWII after less than a year deployed.

Not reading thru 8 pages, but my grandfather was in every hot spot in the Pacific except Peleliu during WW2, followed by several months of occupation on mainland Japan after VJ Day. He didn't get home until mid-'46. Living every day like it's your last, and he made it through without ever getting wounded. No Purple Heart. Beating the odds like that has to take it's own toll as much as getting hit might, just wondering when your time is up. Nobody can be THAT lucky. He didn't even hate the Japanese after the war, but instead had a very deep respect for them.
He made it through over four years. These guys can go a little longer without being able to check Facebook.
