This is the guy who shut down mid-sprint in pole vault qualifying last Olympics when the Star Spangled Banner started playing in order to stand at attention.

OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - The Coronavirus is claiming another Olympic dream. Sam Kendricks, an Olympic bronze medalist and world champion pole vaulter, will not compete in Tokyo after testing positive for COVID-19. Wednesday night, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee tweeted that Kendricks has been transferred to a hotel to be placed in isolation in alignment with local rules and protocols. Out of respect for his privacy, USOPC said no further information would be given out.

Kendricks became a star at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. He took home a bronze medal in pole vaulting and went viral after stopping dead in his tracks upon hearing “The Star-Spangled Banner” being played.

When he heard those familiar notes of the 'Star-Spangled Banner,' pole vaulter Sam Kendricks, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army reserve, knew what he had to do.
quote:
Kendricks, 23, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve, was flying down the runway on his way to a vault when he abruptly stopped, dropped his pole and stood at attention when he heard the anthem playing.
quote:
Kendricks comes from a military family, as his father, Scott, served 10 years in the U.S. Marines and is now his son's coach in the pole vault.
quote:
"Those guys are really proud of me and have given me every chance to continue as a civilian,” Kendricks told the official Team USA website. "(I'm proud) to represent the Americans on two fronts, as a military man and as a U.S. athlete."

So dumb. He has a 10 foot pole to social distance with.
Let the man pole vault and walk away from everyone.

That’s such absolute horse poop. Put a mask on the man, and let him get to work. My bet is he has a light cough.

Update that seems to be nowhere in the MSM:
American pole vaulter Sam Kendricks reveals negative COVID-19 test from isolation
American pole vaulter Sam Kendricks reveals negative COVID-19 test from isolation
quote:
United States pole vaulter Sam Kendricks says he has had four negative coronavirus tests, including one after the the positive result that briefly sent members of the Australian team into isolation. Kendricks is out of the Tokyo Olympics after returning a positive test, a harsh reminder of the realities of these Games. The 28-year-old won gold at both the 2017 and 2019 world titles, as well as a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
quote:
Sadly, today, I was removed from the competition due to a positive coronavirus test, despite having passed two (tests) at home and one in the airport on the way to Tokyo.
quote:
I'm out."
quote:
Kendricks then showed the camera his COVID-19 test that he took after being moved to isolation, clearly revealing a negative result. "The same self-test I took when I got to isolation - 10 days in isolation - it was a negative as well," he explained. "But for the sake of protocols, the Japanese say I am out. "I have no recourse, but to sit in isolation and watch the Olympics."
quote:
I want you to know this, Team USA, you're my team," Kendricks said. "I will always be rooting for the Red, White and Blue. "My men in the pole vault. You're my friends, go have a great time, enjoy the Olympics. "Miss me if you want, but I'll be on the road shortly after, to compete in every other event, and hopefully we'll all have fine, long careers. "On a final note, my friend Matt Ludwig, fourth place at the United States Olympic trials, I would hope he would get on a plane soon and come compete in my stead."

What isn't on MSM is why are people even getting tested if there is a working effective vaccine?

So he got hit with a false positive... why the frick are they even testing people?
This entire Olympics is an absolute shitshow.

Even if you’re coming from a total Covid Commando position, why not just clear the way and let the young man compete for what he has devoted his life to.
