LINK

So US Steel, like their competitor Nucor, raised their prices on American consumers after the tariffs and made a huge amount of money (are they colluding??).

Did they fight the foreigners and cut their price with their tariff advantage? did they "screw" those dirty Chinese?? No.

Did they use they use the profits to add thousands of American jobs? No

They announced a huge stock buyback and are giving 14% across the board raises to their union workers.

Nothing new----this is exactly what they have done time and time again when the steel industry has been successful in convincing politicians to punish Americans and give them pricing protection.

You idiot--they didn't do much to stop the importing of steel from whereever it is coming from. Do you not understand that?? They simply went up on price to their regular customer so the Chinese or whoever can continue to sell their steel since USS is not selling it cheaper than they are.

Why are you so obsessed with this? I work in the industrial sector and it really hasn’t been a big deal

And you favor it.

Call it whatever you want. (What kind of twisted thinking is going on in your head--are you trying to assess the moral differences between government protectionism and crony capitalism?? Is one good and the other bad??

The tariffs were not to eliminate foreign buying, but incentivize American buying.

It is the friggin US government policy. Many such policies are corrupt and protectionism. Trump and Ross did this one.

It is without question the most important issue of the day. If you can't recognize that you should study it more. When those January increases hit and those additional tariffs hit after that everybody will feel it.
