Great section on tariffs that still holds true today. It's free

Easy answer is that in most cases the US isn't the low cost producer of many goods. You'd pay significantly higher prices to buy all "made in America" products because our input costs are much higher.

The tariffs were not to eliminate foreign buying, but incentivize American buying.

Where did you dream that up?? How does imposing a 25% price increase "incentivize" any purchase?

Did you read that somewhere?

How does US Steel's profits do that???

Did you read your own article? American profits and wages are up. Looks like the tariffs worked exactly like I said.

Meanwhile industries that use steel products are paying more for the products and seeing profits drop not to mention the price increases in consumer goods. But it’s all good because the steel companies are better off.

They worked just like Wilbur Ross wanted---cash in the hands of his friends in the steel business.

You people contort yourself into illogical positions just so you do not criticize a Trump policy. Facts just do not matter to you.

I don't take your tariff posts serious anymore, so I guess that's the best I have for you.

So good to see the free market at work.
Meanwhile soybean farmers are paying the price, as futures hit record lows and crops are piling up as the Chinese slash imports. And two R reps (Hartzler and Graves) in rural western Missouri (top bean producer) suddenly starting running ads this week. Red state America finally waking up and realizing the orange clown doesn't care about them?

You keep changing the subject. You come on here bitching about the President and tariffs. Let's hear YOUR strategy.

If you don't have one, shut the hell up. Trump has one. Looks like the economy is doing well and Won Hung Lo is suffering. Trump wants to get them to the table and this is his idea to do it.

Let's hear yours, Milton Friedman.

Where??? When I ask that you--antithinker--acknowledge you do not know the difference between the steel tariffs and the tariffs on the Chinese?

Is the earnings statement linked to in the OP something you cannot understand either?

We can sell those beans elsewhere, and where are the Chinese going to buy enough anyway? If we stay the course, they will break.

I have, in several post strings, asked you your strategy. It is apparent you are a typical Communist.

Resist. You have no strategy, because you want China to win. Pray tell us why that might be. There are those here that say you will benefit financially if they do.
