But if we just hit a ship and disabled it to take it then we just ramped up shite in the strait

This de-escalates more than escalates.
Iran has been expecting our blockade to not really amount to anything. Clearly we are serious though. I say we cut off all Iranian imports and exports and escort commercial vessels that are friendly. Starve them out without hitting civilian infrastructure.

Not smart with Trump.

I don't think everyone realizes how much Obama completely fricked up the globe with the "red line" in Syria he didn't do shite about. It kicked off shite in the Middle East, empowered Iran (even before he gave them billions), encouraged the Chinese to take Hong Kong during Trump's first term, etc.

Sounds like it was inbound to Iran from China. Was already on the sanctioned list and was coming from a port known to supply the raw materials for ballistic missile propellant...

Haven't heard that name since Red Storm Rising (and as I recall, it didn't fare well)

To be fair, that was DD-973. Today’s is DDG-111. A bit more modern. Love that book.

Info on some ships from that book.

I think that was USS Pharris that got its front blown off. Then the guy transferred to Reuben James.

Same.

If you've ever read Larry Bond's books, you'd see how much he contributed to RSR.
