If aliens have figure out how to traverse light years and silently and almost invisibly observe us we've already lost. Best we can hope for is they're friendly and we can learn from them.
But literally every single page of the history of human civilization proves that we are narcissistic aggressive short cited species that will always strike first. We're like hornets. Or fire ants.
Do you try to make friends with hornets or fore ants? No. You observe them until they attack and then you extinct them.

I agree with you. It's more like all mythology. That's why there is an interdimensional twist in all this, IMO. Not necessarily coming from another planet, but from right here...Just on another plane.
I also think, like I said earlier, these people at one time inhabited this plane and left their tech literally buried in the ground.
Some say we are in the 5th age of man. So this has all happened 4 times previous.

Notice how the army and the navy are treating this like some new and unknown thing while the Air Force stays silent. That’s because the space force is a clandestine off-shoot of the Air Force. Their field uniforms are identical, just more of a silver rather than olive green color.

I did not want to get into fringe speculation here, but we have discussed elsewhere that we (humanity) may represent the following to them:
Zoo - genetic experiment they are conducting (perhaps rebooting surface life periodically)
Bioweapons - they are perfecting biological AIs (us) or using us as intermediaries to do so (think Aliens/Prometheus)
A playground - they maybe can incarnate as human to have experiences (Westworld for them)
There is also the spiritual argument (angels/demons vs demiurge/true Godhead)

Some people like to say that us humans should fear extraterrestrials because there is no way we could ever combat them, and that we would easily be wiped out if any extraterrestrial civilization desired it. This may be true in our current state, but not if we realize our true potential. If this was the end goal of certain aliens, why has it not come to fruition? Are there aliens protecting us? If so, why?
The theory expounds that humans are rather important in a galactic sense. Humans are more powerful than most of us realize. We have a range of emotions that don't exist in other humanoid species. This makes us special amongst galactic civilizations. Positive extraterrestrials realize our potential, are carefully guiding us, and are waiting until we evolve.

I wouldn't call it a playground so much as a learning environment. The human experience allows other entities to experience things they can't otherwise experience in their natural forms. Robert Monroe, an OOBE participant and researcher, was an individual with no affiliation to any religion, philosophy, or UFO group. From his journeys, he learned that humans are revered. One example he cited is humor. Humor seems to be an emotion almost exclusive to humans. More than one person has said that humans are almost considered royalty due to our latent abilities waiting to be unlocked. If this is true, it would explain why we haven't been wiped out.
