I live in Nashville and ride the bus every day. I enjoy reading books while letting someone else worry about getting me to work.

At least Megan Barry never talked about going after religious leaders like that carpet muncher you had in office.

I left Monroe this morning and had no issue with traffic until I got to the Springhill exit on 65. It took me nearly 3 hours to get from there to my brother's house in White House. Just awful traffic and I work in the DC area on Thursdays.

I used 840 today and it was bumper to bumper. I then took 109 in Lebanon to White House...like I said it took 3 hours from 65.

I don't know about all the other shite you speak, but riding buses is trashy and slow. Riding trains are much quicker and not held up by street traffic. That is why people will ride trains vs buses.

Came back in here to make sure you read this part that absolutely drives me insane.

"the traffic signals will also be synchronized"!!!

Do this now and traffic improves dramatically. You gotta raise taxes for this?

Good morning to Nashvillians!

Today is increased-tax of $9 BILLION (with a "B") for 2 miles of subway and 5/5 miles of above-ground train referendum voting day!

Wish us well folks and ask God to give wisdom.

I did see an unscientific television news poll this morning that said 86% of the local population is against this!

I am sure those folks from Cool Springs, Franklin, Brentwood will ride the train north to work...doubt it.

And people wonder why they make jokes about mass transit being called Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta or similar names.

It’s basically a delivery system for low income minorities who, if other cities are any indication, will use it as a jumping off point for robbing people.

Just do like Houston and build a loop completely around the city (see 610) and main highways running thru it. So a city probably 5 -10 times the size of Nashville doesn't need to spend 10 billion, but nashville does?

ITS A LARGE CITY YOU DUMB frickS. Traffic will NEVER go away, especially during peak hours.

My wifes sister lives there and if putting shite all over FB about wanting, no, BEGGING! to be taxed to death to get a gdamn train. Shes an unbearable liberal, so that's how I know this idea is stupid

Well, we all can't be the most informed on this topic,

and you said duty.

Higher tax.
15-30 yrs of construction.
More buses on congested roads.
2 miles of subway downtown.
5, 5 mile tracks.

Seriously? You voted yes for this?

I'm a former urban designer. I've been involved on a few dozen urban plans. I'm fairly well informed on the subject.

Higher tax.

I'm cool with it.

quote:

15-30 yrs of construction.

That's a given even without the current plan. We are a growing city and infrastructure construction is unavoidable.

quote:

More buses on congested roads.

We've passed the point of avoiding congestion. Now we have to mitigate our future population growth.

quote:

2 miles of subway downtown.

I said it earlier in this thread, but you get no argument from me on that one.

quote:

5, 5 mile tracks.

This is a starting point.

I did.
