Hey, at least they got pot legalized out there. If I hadn't been sick with the flu, I would have loved my trip to Colorado a couple months ago.

Buses should be half the size they are. I used to joke with a guy I worked with that I was running for Denver mayor under the Traffic Sucks Party. First order of business...eliminating buses. Only about 10% of the bus users would be using a car instead. Wed just be eliminating homeless riding around to different weed joints.

The earlier your do it the cheaper it will be. Atlanta wishes they spent a few hundred million 20 years ago to expand their system. Now any expansion cost billions because of increasing property costs and lack of room. All I can say is vote it down and enjoy the worsening traffic and pay more for the system later.
The plan will not fix these issues, so your argument is pretty weak.

You know, I wonder what the costs savings would be from switching from full sized buses to vans on current bus routes that rarely fill their buses to anywhere near capacity? I bet the fuel savings, insurance savings, maintenance costs, etc would all drop tremendously.

Really shitty drivers too. There were a lot of Chicago people there as well. Much better drivers!

Train is bullshite. How's that Nashville Star doing lol lol lol
It's not doing so bad. It could be doing better, but it's not like it has been a disaster. It's far from a failure. It's doing well enough that private investors are building Transit Oriented Developments around the stops.
I'm voting yes on the transit tax. shite, I live a quarter mile from one the proposed light rail stations, and I work a few hundred yards from another station. Many of my employees are excited about the prospect of working so close to a station. I can take the bus now, but it's an hour trip to go in to the downtown transfer and then come back out. With the new plan I can jump on at Harding Place, ride it up to just inside the loop, and jump on the Murfreesboro leg and take it back out.
A lot of the opponents I talk with cite that we need more studies done and that they don't think the plan will work. The fact is that this plan has been a decade in the making. There have been dozens of proposed solutions that have been vetted by professionals and through numerous public meetings and workshops. The final plan we have now is the culmination of tons of work, research, and modelling. There is no other plan. There isn't time for another plan. This is the plan that has the best chance of success. Could it be better? Sure, with support from surrounding counties, but since suburban governments only want to offer words and not time and mone, we have what we have.
We really need regional support and funding. Those of us that live in the city will have access to tons of transit, but the commuters in the burbs will be left sitting on the interstate.
I agree the downtown tunnel is bullshite. I won't argue anyone on that. I suspect that part was Berry's pet project that she forced in. The rest of the plan makes sense to me.

Hey, priorities.

Ive wondered the same thing. If I seriously was elected mayor of one of these traffic black holes, id make the switch..and only have one stop transportation going to and from downtown.
The people that take buses and ride them all across town are generally people your town can afford to lose

Nashville is not the city it once was.
Very liberal. In fact, Country music is shifting.

we have those dumb arse accordian buses where they fuse 2 full-size buses together and send them 'en masse' down gallatin which already has thimble-sized lanes.
what could possibly go wrong?

Wow, I'm so happy for you! My dream has always been for a few lucky people to benefit from spending that everyone else must pay for. Sure, that system doesn't benefit me, but I'm not some selfish a-hole. I care about you.

Trains are a good thing if built right in an area with enough population density.
This is my issue with the light rail stuff. I think the transit system in Chicago is an absolutely wonderful asset to the city. When my wife and I visit we never were in a car, even from the airport. But Chicago is EXTREMELY dense compared to Nashville. Nashville is very spread out comparatively and it just feel like anywhere you took the train you would have to walk many blocks from the station.
Maybe Im just not forward thinking enough to imagine Nashville as being that dense to where it makes sense. I do understand the argument that doing it now is way cheaper than later, but as of right now Im very skeptical as to its feasibility.....especially servicing any of the outlying suburbs.

Actually, the proposed system is about as backward looking as it gets. Go with your instinct here

are they still planning to DIG UP the artery that is west end and stick a train down the middle of it that goes to uber-rich belle meade??
who the hell came up with that idea?
oh yeah..the same chick who just pled guilty to felony theft.

But that's how taxes work. I don't get a benefit if Metro builds a sidewalk on the other side of the county, yet I still pay my property taxes.
My business tax is going up. Sales tax is going up. I'm paying for it, too, and I'm okay with it.

They tried to say it was only going to cost 5.3 billion until a week before the final council vote. Then they decided that it was best to let the public know the "true" cost of 9 billion. They were selling the 5.3 amount for months! These people are crooks! All these people want is their name attached to the largest expenditure in Nashville history.
