I wondered after their attacks on the Iron Dome if they hadn't shot their wad and was just hoping no one would test them after that show of force. Looks like we're about to find out.

trump gave Iran a choice between the Carrot and the stick..... they didnt go for the Carrot, so he removed the restraints from the "stick" that was Israel.....

We'll see. My point in that is for all the time, money, effort and rhetoric Iran put forth leading up to their largely failed attempts to hit Israel, their decision to stand down right after was noticeably, diametrically opposed to everything they expended in the build-up.

However, your theory/question is still valid but just delayed.
That was my theory too. When THE attack occurs the Iranian leadership will convince themselves that they did something. But their echo chambers are now coffins.
I don't think there are going to be any negotiations for quite a while. The replacements, still under the mullahs, are going to lash out as much as they can when they can for years.
Take out the mullahs, different story. Their people have the same problem we have- "following the law" is the mullah's law. And it is designed to keep them in power, not protect or promote the interests of their citizens.

There will be more coming from Iran. They sent the drones just to say we responded, but they will be sending the ballistic missiles.
