and yet they still manage to use about 5x as much in social services as they ever pay in taxes (100 billion vs about 20 billion)

Those are not real numbers

How in the world do you see that as any kind of "best case scenario" for ME?

In this particular discussion you're trying to claim that Trump gave the order to hire illegals. I'm giving you that. With respect to this discussion, that's the best case scenario.

What the...?

Not a rebuttal.

quote:

That looks EXACTLY like the Democratic response to Northam.

I guess? Northam's recent comments on abortion are out of line even on the democratic side of the fence so I'm not quite sure how true that is.

quote:

But ultimately, you've been manipulated to believe those are the most pressing issues. Why is it that when there's a Democrat as president, Republicans scream about the debt and deficit, but when it's a Republican president, it's all about immigration and abortion? I still happen to believe with the Republicans from the previous administration that the biggest problems facing us today are the debt and deficit.

We're bleeding over 100 billion dollars a year due to illegals, fixing that will help with the budget.

Income taxes. And they pay less sales taxes than American workers. Many live as frugal as possible so they can send as much money as they can back to their country of origin.

They pay plenty of taxes with erroneous ss numbers and many numbers that belong to citizens

Interesting comment. So you think that illegal immigrants as a whole are paying enough taxes.

Proof?
Link?
Background?

Hint: Do make sure any cited source does not simultaneously claim illegals abide by the law. Because the two claims juxtaposed would prove your source quite dishonest.

No but in refining my argument I have definitely found that the disparity of numbers used on this board vs reality is startling. They also fail to include the benefit of prices on goods, to American citizens, due to cheap labor.

I'm sure if you only interviewed my painters they'd have told a story that painted them as the victim.

You just said they pay plenty, though.

I'm sure a lower quality of craftsmanship offsets that.

"Commissioner Koskinen: … The question is whether the Social Security number they are using to get the job has been stolen, though it is not the normal identity theft situation. We did run a pilot, and we are looking at — and I appreciated your discussions about this — whether there is a way we could simply advise people.

A lot of times, those Social Security numbers are, in fact, borrowed from friends or acquaintances and people know they have been used. Other times, they do not. So we are looking at — and one of the reasons for the pilot was — what is the most effective way to deal with this without necessarily having people decide not to file their taxes — obviously a priority for taxpayers and the IRS, which is collecting those taxes."

Snopes

"A left-leaning research organization estimated that undocumented immigrants paid about $12 billion in total taxes in 2010, while a conservative think tank pegged it at $17.6 billion."

Politifact

"Social Security Number?
Since the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, all employers are required to verify the work eligibility of all new hires by completing Form I-9, which mandates the employee provide a Social Security number and show documents to their employer to prove work authorization and identity. U.S. citizens frequently show their driver’s license and Social Security card, but because there are a number of documents that can be used to complete the form, the worker does not necessarily need to show their actual Social Security card. Undocumented workers who are hired without valid work authorization may provide their employer a fake Social Security number, someone else’s number, or even a previously-valid number issued when they may have had work authorization that has since lapsed. Furthermore, most employers do not—and, except for certain employers, are not required to—verify this information with any government entity at the time of hire. Additionally, employers cannot, by law, ask to see any specific or additional documents other than what the worker provides, so the Social Security number provided by an undocumented immigrant on their Form I-9 would be used by the employer to withhold payroll taxes and would be included on their W-2 form."
