I wonder if this is strategic or if they actually can't control it? I'm sure it's a bit of both.
You make a good point, as well as another who noted that the station is located in a Russian controlled area.

Probably not a good idea
Your own linked article indicates that it isn’t exactly a choice. You seem really dumb.

Gas Transit Services of Ukraine (OGTSU) declared force majeure on Tuesday, saying that it was impossible to continue the transit of gas through a connection point and compressor station located in the Lugansk area. As OGTSU personnel “cannot carry out operational and technological control” over the Sokhranovka connector point and Novopskov compressor station, the company cannot continue to fulfill its contract obligations, it said.

I agree with you on the FM tactic. I'm merely supporting my OP with an additional link that is not RT.
Your OP appears to be blaming Ukraine for the shut-in and the one-sided RT article treats the FM event as contrived.

So the dick swinging piano playing hero of democracy is throwing a tantrum?
No. The article clearly indicates that the facilities impacted are in regions known to be under Russian control and/or where heavy fighting is taking place.
Cool attempt at being an edge lord though.

Just imagine for a second being this dumb or incapable of processing context.
The infrastructure in question is in Russian-held territory.

Why were the Russians letting it flow up until now?

99% didn't read the article and if they did they never thought to question the bias in an article from Russia.

I do blame Ukraine for how they are handling this.

So they should send workers into russian occupied territory during a direct military conflict to operate a compressor station? And if they don't it's their fault that Russia invaded and started killing Ukranians?

Ukraine said that it could and would. RT is a propaganda outlet. Russia Today should be a tell to anyone with 1/4 a brain.

If not actually held by the Russians, I’m sure it’s totally unbelievable to consider that servicing the infrastructure has become infeasible with a war happening around it.
It simply MUST be Ukraine putting the screws to Europe unnecessarily. Because that makes sense.

So, it's like a fog of war deal, where you can't really point the finger at anyone here - with perhaps some blame to go around? That sort of makes the most sense to me, and would explain why it was flowing up until now. Or it could be one or either "putting the screws" so to speak, no?

The Russians must be targeting Ukrainian contract workers. Thus forcing the Ukrainians to abandon operations of the checkpoint, so they make the Ukrainians look like the irresponsible party involved. When in actuality the Russians yet again are the instigation behind it.
