Ive seen parts of it. Documentaries are usually some person's or a groups collection of slices of truth put together to persuade an audience...i mean inform lol
Not that anyone could digest the whole truth in a 1.5 hour show.
both the west and russia have attempted to manipulate and politic their way into influencing Ukraine for their own selfish objectives.
the west was winning this game...primarily because if youre gonna have a daddy most sane people would choose NATO over Putin.
Putin threw a fit like a petulant little child and decided to no longer play the game he was losing...so you now have violence and war.
most of us would like to help ukraine kill ruskies and put a check on Russian aggression.

quote:He actually has a very small part of the documentary itself. What it does do is reveal the players from the Ukrainian right and how they are connected to the American political structure (how in the hell does a Georgian on the run get appointed as the governor of Odessa?).
IT is 100% Putin’s side of the story
Very good documentary considering it was done by the master of hyperbole and innuendo, Oliver Stone.

I didn't see that way. I saw the video as neutral and didn't pick a side. Hollywood would be a against Putin which is unusual as they used him as a boogeyman to get Trump.

Specific to Ukraine are parts 12, 13, 17 & 18, but his entire body of work deserves attention.
I'm probably the biggest proponent of his work into explaining the flaming shitshow on ice we're currently witnessing inside the Beltway, here on TD.
There's a video version currently in production from DauntlessDialogue called Devolved. Episodes 1 & 2 are already out, with #3 on its way before the end of the month.
I tell anyone who is serious about the matters at hand (and will listen) about both.

The tactics used were exactly the same. How did that happen?
Someone has to write the script

I personally don’t want our social poison spreading to the rest of the world. It destabilizes and destroys countries. Putin understands this

Also consider...
This John Mearsheimer lecture from 2015
...and this recent (March, 2022) article in the New Yorker:
Why John Mearsheimer Blames the U.S. for the Crisis in Ukraine

i watched this doc last night and it opened my eyes to how the US started the whole damn mess with the Ukraine. From Bush to Biden we have done nothing but run a giant propaganda campain in the Ukraine. It's a great history lesson on the Ukraine and Stone even digs on Soros at one point on the doc.
I have watched it and based the conversations that I have had with Ukrainians who were actual there the documentary is way off.
Also not a damn thing in documentary justified Russia's illegal occupation and annexation of Crimea or Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Currently watching the first one.
ETA: Well, damn. The world is evil. I couldn't help but think of all the bs protests we had and the Jan 6 bs. Evil people were behind it stirring the shite. Just like they did in Ukraine. And the US media was there to support it.

Russia 'ceded' Crimea to Ukraine, W, when Ukraine was Russia sympathetic. And most of Crimea are Russian speaking and want nothing of the Hard Right Western Ukrainian Nationalists who were moving on Crimea. I haven't been there and talked to the folk, but that point was certainly made in the Doc. That may not be a "justification" in your mind, but it's not your homeland.

I think Russia gave it up not long after the Soviet Union fell.
