I honestly don't understand the leap from "I don't want us involved" to "lol you're a Putin lover". 90% of this country couldn't find Ukraine on a map a year ago and now the left has a deep emotional attachment. It's weird as hell.

so why does it require 41 countries to send endless arms and funding? why not let Ukraine fight Russia alone?
the Taliban beat the US military without any outside help. Taliban>>Ukraine confirmed.

Imagine being stupid enough to think Russia is a friend to the United States. Putin is a product of the USSR. You people will even stand with enemies of the US if you think it helps you politically.

Why not take the opportunity to bring an enemy low with some $$$ and preserve world order. But still just give a rag-tag nation that has maybe 1/4 the pop and the supposed 2nd/3rd most powerful military melts away.

The US was trying to nation build in a country that wasn’t a nation, that was in a centuries long civil/tribal war. Never get involved in a civil war and never try to nation build a Stone Age geographic region (it’s hardly a country). The US just quit after 20 years, but in now way we’re we routed or driven out by the taliban. Completely different situation. When we invaded, there were no roadblocks or setbacks.

Americans don't care about the Russia/Ukraine news story. We stuffing our faces. All is good in the world!

I looked at the map and wonder if the Ukrainians are such badasses why hasn’t anyone snuck across the border and taken out some Russian power plants. All we hear is how inept the Russians are yet their lights and heaters are running. Do the Ukrainians even cross the border?

Ukraine knows that if they attack Russia, they are done.
Ukraine FAFO and it is very hard to feel bad when Americans are suffering because of them.

Why are you pretending that you don’t know why they haven’t done that?

If true, that says more about how fricking dumb the average American is than anything else.

Cool. So Ukraine doesn't need our money. Can we stop sending cash to President Zelensky?

The geography deficit or the emotional attachment?
If you’ve ever seen random “man in the street” interviews where they ask simple civics questions you already know how ignorant the average American is. That’s one reason why I’m against convincing people to vote.

By far. It also means that none of those people have any fricking clue on the context/history of the region or conflict. Which is an indictment on how stupid our society has chosen to become. Americans know nothing about the world or why things got to be how they are.

Universal suffrage is a total disaster. No argument there.

Those are ridiculous but I wonder how many people they have to interview to get those soundbytes. It's probably less than I think but I think if you asked the average person a random question they would do better than those indicate. They're just showing the fail highlights which is fine and funny but I don't think most people are failing the basic questions

And yet there’s a serious psychological and emotional investment by 30-ish percent of the country into Ukraine. That’s really freaking weird.

How much is a U.S. citizen supposed to know about the geography and I guess geopolitics of Eastern Europe? The “context and history” of the region?

Y’all coming in a bit hot on this one, just my opinion of course. Y’all mentioned “civics” within the context of the discussion as well? “Civics” as commonly mentioned in conversation here in this country is almost exclusively devoted to the exclusive subject of U.S. civics, not that of foreign countries. Not that I’m aware of anyway.

Every adult should, keyword should, have been educated on at least the basic 20th century history of these places. Hell, most adults over 30 grew up during the Cold War. Anyone educated beyond middle school who can’t point out Ukraine on a map is a moron.
