Upon President Donald Trump's firing Preet Bharara as U.S. Attorney, Trump reportedly interviewed Berman among other candidates for the position.[18] Berman had performed some part-time volunteer work for the Trump transition.[19] On January 3, 2018, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Berman's appointment as U.S. Attorney, along with sixteen other former prosecutors, to serve in various offices around the country on an interim basis until the Senate can permanently confirm them.[20][21] The Trump Administration never nominated Berman or most of the other interim appointments. On April 25, 2018, the Chief Judge of the Southern District of New York entered an order formally on behalf of a unanimous court appointing Berman United States Attorney pursuant to its authority under 28 U.S.C Section 546(d). Berman has the appointment indefinitely, until an individual nominated by the President is confirmed by the Senate, or he is dismissed from the position by the President.[4]

It could be worse. They could be Kurds and have the crap blown out of them by one of the president’s strongman cronies.

I don't see Rudy's name any where. The Americans tried to get a license to sell pot (lucrative business) and may have lobbied someone from Colorado.
Some serious frickery going on here to stop Rudy and save face for Biden at the debate in a few days.

Have you actually read the indictment? The charges are pretty severe. How can you say that they are not a flight risk?
Also, 3 out of 4 were apprehended at airports? You think that's a coincidence?

The investigation was conducted by the SDNY.
Thank goodness they didn't call someone an "Illegal Alien" or get caught eating a Hamburger. They'd be sent to the Big House for that.

quote:Again, I'll say this...When Rudy Giuliani is headlining Pete Sessions (who is Congressman-1 in this indictment) fundraisers a couple months after these donations were made, you can pretty easily figure out what this is all really about. There's a reason my first post was "In 2018, interesting"
I don't see Rudy's name any where.

Your right Mikey, she funneled it through the DNC law firm Perkins Coie, which funneled it through Fusion GPS which funneled it to Chris Steele, and misreported it as all legal fees.
There ya go!
I have to say, even though you and I usually disagree, you're one of the most knowledgeable posters on here

I don't think being at an airport makes someone a flight risk. People fly all of the time.
What were they trying to flee from? Testifying before Congress? Did they know they were being arrested today?

My GOD this is infuriating
I really hate the lofty and overly-dramatic way the SDNY drafts these type of indictments which are planned to be high profile.
I've skimmed the complaint and from I can tell it seems to come down to that 4 American citizens, three of whom came from former Soviet Bloc countries (in fact, USA Today misreported one as Ukrainian when in fact he was born in Balrus) formed a business that funded PACs and candidates to conceal their identities and lied on their FEC report that business was an energy business. So, yeah, that's an FEC violation, and a pretty significant amount of money.
Then the foreign scheme allegations are a little whacky, but apparently these guys were trying to get marijuana licenses in Nevada with money from a foreign investor and, as part of their efforts, made donations to STATE candidates and CONSPIRED to make donations to federal candidates [it doesn't appear that any were ever made to fed candidates, but that, and international transactions, are apparently the federal jurisdictional predicates].
But all this shite happened in 2018. And has NOTHING to do with Trump or Peach Mint.

If they were trying to flee the country, that would have been included in every single headline.

This just means we are on the right track. If it wasn't such a big deal and he was innocent, they would be happy we wasting our time on a meaningless investigation.
This news is just noise to let those who are getting tired of the democrat cover ups to think, "Hey, maybe the democrats are right and Trump bad"
